New Front Mounted CAI Box

I saw in Car mag a new CAI style, It is like the Intercooler of Supercharger that mounts in front of the radiator.

Anyone knows is this is a better CAI system?

Anyone has experience with such design?

Someone on here already got one installed. Don't think they posted any changes in performance yet though.

Do you have a link to the manufacturer site?

No, I forgot what the company was called. But I know they had a website, check the mag.

It doesn't look like it does any additional cooling. It just moves the filter element in front of the radiator. I don't see how this would improve performance.

What would be really cool is if you could add an additional cooling coil from the AC to cool intake air. Or maybe a way to switch between the two. That would be some COLD air.

The idea is that the air is flowing into the intake in the front mount position. Simple physics...moving air has more velocity than air that has to be sucked in. It's actually a ricer ploy..so people will think you have a turbo.

A few years ago, Ford did something similar in a concept Mustang. If I recall, under full throttle, the AC coolant would some how bypass the AC system and cool the engine coolant. In turn cooling the engine for more power. Could only work once every ten minutes. The additional power would only last a few seconds.

Check out the design on the new AMG C32. Intercooled-CAI I think we could develope something similar for our cars or take the design from the pic you have posted and the intercooler. I've been messing around with some designs on paper. I don't know how much of a performance gain there would be since I've yet to do the math but it would only be useful (based on the design) when the ambient temp is above 62. PLUMBING! PLUMBING! PLUMBING!

Put an ice pack on the cai piping, drive

Sorta like the crazy turbo setups out there for racing only. kind of hard to have ice always around to keep stuff cool. There's a cooling setup I can't recall, but for all you turbo nerds, you know what I mean.

That item above sure looks ricey and cheap.

Oh, i've seen what you are talking about. One dude had a 4 turbo setup. What i'm talking about wouldn't be bad but i have the intercooler or AC lines to the CAI.

arospeed is crap. that is a knock-off of the intake made by the company FMIS (front mount intake system). theirs is better
