NEw exhaust set up.
not to long ago i posted something about taking my catylitic converter out. I talked to some exhast shops and the thing that they said would be best to do is,
replace all piping from cat all the way to the exhaust (HKS) wiht bigger diameter piping. Also to get rid of the resinater right before the Y-splitter pipe. The whole job is custom of course and will take about 3 hours beause he has to make and weld the new Y pipe. I cant wait to do it I have a 11AM appiontment tommarow. I will keep you guys posted on how it sounds and pros/cons-

the work
Sounds like a good plan to me and it might have saved you some money as opposed to the full system. Keep us posted. and get a sound bite or pic up hurr when you get it done.

It's going to sound bad without a resonator. I would install an 22" Magnaflow resonator after the cat.
I've seen similar routes on the CL/TL and in the end, those who did a custom cat back, ended up incorporating a resonator afterwards.

300$ sounds way too high. and 3 hours seems way too long..

its going to sound like the loudest fart you can possibly imagine x 324323423.3
my friend had a hatchback with LS swap and straight 2.25 piping all the way back with no resonator and the thing was loud as a mother fucker...could barely stand it on the 10 hour drive to philly

with forced induction larger diameter exhaust piping is a definite advantage as long as you dont go too large for the application.
Also if you aren't S/C anytime soon the larger piping coould also make you lose HP because of backpressure issues...

Im installing in a week or so. Should I keep my stock resinater then??? or is that a bad thing. will the exhaust note still be loud with just the piping?

the muffler shop suggested i should do a bigger pipe with my comptech mufflers so i can keep the stock pipe and mufflers together
or else they will cut it and weld the new ones on
i will see for more options tmr and hope to do within this or next week

well i got it done with out installing a resinator. it makes the HKS sound a lot meaner. NOT RICEY OR FARTY AT ALL. just at a cold start its a little farty but it goes away in a few secs. when the engine is warm it sound absolutely great! I will probably end upi putting a high flow resinator after the cat just because the drone can get kinda annoying. by the way i put 2.5 inches in the frnt and for the y pipe I did 2 1/4. the only thing is now is where to find A high flow res?
