new ecm means early shifts?

I test drove the 04 tl and noticed that even when gunning it in auto, the car shifted about 500-700 rpm's before redline. I asked the salesman if i can drive a used type s on the lot to compare with the new TL. He agreed and told me the the ecm and tranny were just changed. I punched the gas in this car as well and it did the same thing, it shifted early at wot. In ss i can shift at or a lil after redline, but in full auto the car shifts early. I have a 99 so no need for a replacement ecm, but you guys should really check out ecm issue and post if you noticed the early shifts.

part of that is the car hasn't learned the drivers driving techniques yet. Reset your ECU and for a little while the car will shift a litter early.

as long as it will still go to redline in SS or gate shifting that's fine with me.

it has nothing to do with learning the driver. My car has been through 3 trannies, and so has rondog. Both of our cars went to redline at wot with a fresh ecu, but they drove very conservatively when driven light. I think that the new ecm is programed to shift early no matter what in auto.

exactly .. who gives a crap if it pre-shifts in daily driving scenarios ... that's a good thing! saves my tranny from crapping out .. all i care about is when i am racing someone at the track or on the street (which I NEVER do of course) ..

when i got my tranny redone, i asked if there was a dif. ecu, tech man said no, so on the way back i was just checking steppped on the gas from a roll, it downshifted and relined in 1st and 2nd. i don't think canada gets the new ECU. my dadas 04 max will not redline when i floor it, but after i have been driving in it for about 1/2 hour it will

I have an 01 S ... I used to be able to hot 3rd at 90 and bring it up to 108. After the tranny replacement, I could not shift into 3rd any more. The tranny shifts below red line...

So I am sure the 04 has this fix. Acura failed to make a tranny to handle the power in the 3.2 S. So they newer models make max torque later in the RPM range, have basically the same HP, and shift different.

I would stay away from acura. They seemed to start bumping up the power on their cars in 99 with the TL 225 HP and then the S model and after all the other car manufacturers do they same they cannot keep up.

They have had some serious quality problems.

Get a subaru wrx with 300 HP and 300 torque at 4000 RPMs..

This care might not look as nice but it sure will smoke the acura with AWD and for less money
