This is why I hate shops.

Fifth may not be engaging fully.

See what type of transmission oil they refilled with, use Honda manual transmission oil or GM synchromesh. If they're used to working on older Hondas they may have put motor oil in the trans.

I was just thinking about that today, I took it back to them last week and they kinda fixed it but not really. I'm still having the same problem in 5th but way less frequently.

Oh and now I'm leaking coolant as well, I won't be going back to this shop.

^I definitely was not leaking before, I just flushed everything out and have been watching it super closely since then.

I won't be going back to this place for anything ever.

thats why i paid my mechanic and i spent 6 hours with him watching his hands. he actually did it 3.5 hour but i was waiting 2.5 hour for flywheel to get resurfaced.

now question to Rajca and other that did remove clutch damper and slave cylinder (?)

where is it ? how long does it take to make it done... i did read this

but on the 3g TL is a bit different.

dampner is a quick 15 min job. A bit tight. Follow the lines comming down from the reservoir. Ull run into the dampner. The slave mod is a bit more tricky and time consuming. U have to be careful how much u grind out to get the snap ring out. I tore an o ring bc the edges were sharp. Id file them down a little and put some vasoline on the slave where u insert the oring when butting it bac together.

Also, update on my clutch. Grabs really good on the track when I beat on it and good on the road for every day driving. U can deff. feel the 6 puch. But, its like a on off clutch got an inch to play with. Might be bc I didn't replace the pressure plate

I was wondering if the slave mod was for us or not, because in the thread it said that the op wasn't sure if the CL had the check valve or not

Its all a learning process in my mind, the lesson here is to do a good amount of research to find a shop rather than just using the one your dad has been using for the past couple years. lol

I also need to find a shop to do my 105k tune up soon and definitley won't be using this one.

Ugghhhh I hate this whole situation, went camping last night and drove back this morning, so proably 150 miles and now I have the kinda grinding sound coming from what sounds like the clutch. Its not really grinding but more like a sounds of dirt in a bearing or something. Either way I'm tempted to go to another shop get them to do it and pass off the bill to the original shop

normally a clutch kit includes the pilot and throw out bearings, even then alot of them will even include an alignment tool also

but then again they did not replace the flywheel though.... (i know paul can machine them, but most people can't so it needs replacement), and it's not like our's can even be machined though, was not exactly a complete job if you ask me

They told me you don't necessarily need to replace the flywheel, maybe refinish it. But they said they would do it if it needed to be done and I was never charged extra for it

, still should have been resurfaced anyways, but then again the dual-mass flywheel's are geneally considered non machineable (too hard for most anybody to set up properly), so the reason for calling for the replacement of it...

^that what I thought.
When they saw it they probably just said fuck it and didn't worry about it.

Well when I find a new shop I may just get the light weight one that comes with the CM kit.

I couldn't remember how to spell it and didn't want to try and embarrass myself

just get a stage 3 then....

it's already roughly half the price of the clutch kit, so why not just chip in a little more for the whole setup then

btw some shops won't say the flywheel needs machine, so the clutch does not seem as expensive, even though it is like only $75 or something like that (where i worked, and even where i work now, machine the flywheel is pretty standard pratice, not that expensive, and you get a smooth clutch ; and even then if they where not able to machine it, they still should have called you and informed you of the situation, before procedding)

freaking awesome, ok heres the latest update after taking it back to the shop a couple times they said that the problem was from the gears being loose, not a kinked or twisted linkage like the advice I got on here (actually they never even mentioned the linkage being fine). So they recommended a transmission shop for it, today I went there and the mechanic took it for a test drive. After he said there is definitely a problem in the upper gears (1st 3rd and 5th), so he said that it needed to be rebuilt because the whole setup is shifting forwards when I shift. and then he quoted me 2-4 grand..

I think its total bullshit because that problem would have been present before hand I would think. So I'm on my way to the dealer now to see what they think.

The 6MT tranny wont cost $2-4k to rebuild. I had mine rebuilt for $800USD.

It sounds to me like these guys are trying to rape you.

They recommended this tranny shop? Red flag right there. Take it to a different shop and get a second opinion.

I figured so, well either way I went down to the dealer and went for a test drive with one of the techs. He basically said that the clutch feels good, a little sticky but good and the transmission feels fine.
So driving around and just like I said it pops out of 5th when cruising around, so we take it back to the dealership for him to have a look at it. Well long story short the shifter cables for 1st 3rd and 5th have a lot of play in them, he figures they forgot to unhook them or something like that and stretched them. So my plan now is just to get the dealer to fix it and give the other shop the bill and never go back there.

Holy fuck my life.
So went out camping this weekend, left friday night and started back around 7 PM on saturday. Made it about half way home and the problems began...
First of all first and second gear wouldn't engage at all, so I had to start out of third.
Then my speedo shit the bed and didn't show how fast I was going.
Then well driving at around 120 kms in sixth it popped out of gear and the car died, so I pull over to the side of the road (something I was trying to avoid because I was still over 100kms away from home) and pop my hood annnnd the smoke came billowing out.
I look under the car and the clutch/tranny was just smoking.
So after waiting for 2 hours for the tow truck to come get me and then paying a $250 bill for the tow back to the shop that did the work I finally made it home around 12:30. Missed a friends birthday party and an overall good night.

To say the least I'm pissed, even if it wasn't the clutch I was having issues before and the shop didn't really want to take a look at it. If they had looked at it and found an issue that may have saved this whole ordeal but nope they did not. So now if they don't/ cant fix it I will be going to the dealership getting them to fix it and as long as it can be related to the clutch work that was done the shop will be covering the bill even if I have to go to court.

Ugghhh what a night.

Oh and to top it all off I was supposed to go to a meet today and was pretty excited about it since I missed the last one because of this same issue.
