New CL in the Garage

Good morning all –

After about a month of searching, I located a low mileage CLS 6 speed. I flew over to Las Vegas last weekend and drove it back to So Cal. I got back in about 4 hours and was ready to drive for 10 more. Great ride!

I didn’t find this forum until last night after trying a Sherlock search. I’m damn happy I was looking for MT CLS’. I had no idea the ATs had so many problems. I had a few used car sales clowns trying to talk me into getting a CLS AT. The squeaky sun roof seal got a dose of white lithium grease and I understand I may get a warped rotor or two that the dealer might take care of.

The car’s going to remain stock for a bit until we get better acquainted, then rims and springs and exhaust and ……

I was up to the wee small hours of the morning looking over the threads on this forum. Looks like a great place to learn about the car. I somehow posted to the
wrong area last night so please forgive the cross posting.

Thanks

.

Well if you get the hankering to sell those stock rims give me a shout. I've wanted to put a set on my 03 V6 Accord.

Congrats on the purchase.

If you don't mind me asking, how many miles did it have, Nav? and how much did it run you. I'm looking to possibly get one in January.

Private Party via the Auto Trader. 12,000 miles, 20,000K. Silver, no navi. I had two others I was looking at, both of them had the navi but had two to three times the mileage. I wanted as much factory warrantee time as I could get.

Yep -- I saw this comming. - I have the pics, just lacking the "smarts" to figure out how to embed them in the thread :-|

Dave, I have to say... you're the most literate newb ever, but you still suck at teh interweb, sir. You gotta upload those files to the net and only then can you [img] link em here. Go here: www.imageshack.us

Upload there, get the link, and [img] it up. Your format was correct.

Also, fucking sweet car I wish I had a MT

Neither as far as I can determine. I just got lucky.

The person I bought this from was moving up to northern Idaho in the near future and didn’t figure a CL would make a good off road and snow buggy. He was motivated to sell although he said he had this listed on the Autotrader online for a while before I called.

Over the past month there have been 4 CLS MTs come up on the Trader website with less the 15,000 miles and the asking price for all of them was above 26K. In chatting with one of the local Acura dealers who seem to know his shit, there was a 2 year lease program in place that is expiring about this point in time. I found a bunch out there with between 24k and 30K miles with asking prices in the 23 to 25k range as well. There’s a black/parchment non-navi 6spd at a dealer also in Las Vegas that’s got 25k miles on it that I had a look at. Not in as nice of shape as the one I bought but they were willing to part with it for about 20K with Pre-Owned Certification.

Not sure what you mean 'none available'. the white/blacks are out there, just not too many. Red, white, and black came with both color interiors.
Congrats to our new 6MT member!

Welcome to ACL Dave and Congrats on your purchase. You got an excellent buy at $20k. Once you decide what you want as far as mods, I suggest you become familiar with the Black Market forum. You can save a lot of money buying used. You seem like a patient man so with time on your side, you can get a lot of mods without paying full price.

BTW, I've got a SSM CL-S6 also. Hopefully this link will encourage you to mod the suspension

There's a white/ebony CLS MT navi at a Porche shop in San Antonio Tx. at the moment.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I have a bigger money hole than car to contend with at the moment. I've got a kitchen re-model that's just getting going. Serious hole to throw money at. The CLS will stay very "stock" for a bit.

Congrats to our new 6MT member!
Searched for in stock new non navi white/ebony 6-speed in late Jan 2003, none in FL available at least. And in order to get the deal I needed to get a car in stock from any Acura lot.

oh fawk, to late now.

But damn, every time I hear horror stories from friends with G35C's (all ladies for some reason ) - horror lease payment stories, I feel very confortable with the deal I got back in Jan 2003 for the 6-speed.

That is incrdible that you were able to find a low milage 6-speed for 20k. Hell I paid 23k for a brand new 03 AV6 automatic two a year and a half ago.

And don't forget, if you really want to get rid of those rims in the future send me a private message.
