Hey guys, going to get my CL painted soon, its currently NBP. I want something other than black, all my cars are black... I'm thinking either a cocaine white with maybe a pearl in it, or civic SI blue, anthracite, or a deep red, mind you I have 5% tinted windows.

Any advice would be great, btw I'm rolling on 19inch silver racing hart C2s.

 

I'm partial to black, so I recommend that you leave it that color. Paint one of the other cars. There's nothing like that NBP coming out of the horizon. Keep the color.

 

Unless you can do it correctly only paint it stock color. Changing the color of the car is not something any painter/body shop can just do. And it can't be done cheap either.

With that said I say white, or blue.

 

I'd go white. But only if you paint the jams and engine bay.

 

I would do something like a blood/ruby Red. So it looks black at night but in the day it will look like dark candy apple. That way you don't have to cut in the door gams.

I like the SI blue, I think that'd be a cool color on the CL.

yeah a ruby/burgundy red would be nice. if you're gonna do white or blue, then yeah get an already used honda official color. pearl white from the TL's

pearl white on a cl tho would be gorgeous!!! and you'd definitely be one of a kind many would think its OEM unlike with a burgundy red, everyone will know its aftermarket. some will like and some will hate the red.

 

black to white is definitely going to cost money.... they dont JUST do the outside of the car...under the hood, trims etc...all need to be redone.... if it was a cheap paint job , they ONLY do the exterior...meaning the door trims and under the hood would be left stock color...so i think theyre gonna charge u up the ass for it.....unless u got some type of accident where ur insurance would cover it all.....and if it was the cheap job i mentioned, people usually dont want a repainted car or atleast i wouldnt because it looks like u got in an accident...i like stock paint IMO.... maybe its just me. But thats later on when you want to sell ur car....most look for cars that arent repainted.

My '03 cl-s6 was repainted Anthracite, it had some hurricane scratches from some roof shingles..

It was the same color to begin with though. lol

 

it may be just me but id love to get mine repainted in a coat of the 2008 TL-S "Carbon Bronze Pearl", I think that would be a badass color on the CL-S

 

A decent paint job like that is at least $5,000.00.

Yeah...it is so freaking expensive to repaint.

I would love to do it...but for my CL it isn't worth the cost...IMO.

 

thanks for all the insight guys, my stepbrother owns a real reputable body shop. I have a few dings and what not thus being the reason for the paintjob. They did a custom job on some executives aston martin and they took the motor out and everything. I just have to pay for the paint, labor is free, but they wont get to it "until they get to it" lol. so far it looks like red or blue ftw. I love the idea of the candy apple red, but dont want anything to flashy...

 

if he owns a shop that takes the motor etc out...ur good to go...that is a full job and not a half ass one.... paints not expensive, i got my car fender patched up and repainted along with my entire front bumper for the material cost only since i know a good body shop

Well then.... That's different, go ahead. Why not a custom color like a burnt orange or red, or an emerald green.
Range Rover has an awesome dark blue color on older Range rovers. Real nice color up close.

The color of the interior does make a difference. I'm guessing you have black interior. Mine is red and I like it, but blue is the best color out there. The CL blue is a great color, could even add a little metal flake to make it stand out!

 

I really like custom jobs, but I dont want a "ghetto fab" ride... I want it shiny and all lol, but not bass boat shiny.. I was at the shop yesterday and they are doing a woodgrain paint job on a denali.... LOL...

 

Also keep in mind if something does happen and you have to repaint a bumper, hood, or the QP..... Black is by far the easiest to mach

Actually your toughest colors to match would be black, pearl white, and pearl blue, or silver. I've seen plenty of bad paint jobs to know. With black you can only tell under direct sunlight, however.

Also with painting a car you will destory whatever value you have left in it... which is fine as long as this doesn't matter to you.

I saw a gsx-r white w/ orange pearl looks pretty good, but I saw the actual supersonic blue paint in person, in the can and wow, (i know in the can it looks better) but damn its majestic. looks like its gonna be supersonic blue pearl FTW.

Its crazy the paintjobs you notice when you're debating on getting one yourself. Saw a brand new 06+ mustang w/ chameleon paint, didnt know anyone thought that was cool anymore.

 

YESSs!!! doo ittt! trust me the colour ON THE CAR in real life is just crazy, pictures dont do it any justice at all trust me. My buddy's GSR had SSBP and its fucking crazy

 

SSBP it is.... will be done by years end.
