NEW CAR !! READ!

Hey guys a good friend of mine is looking for a used car for around 15,000 bucks. He has been looking at 92 BMW convertible and 98 mustang convertible. Speed is the lowest priority. All he wants is a nice car that will work most of the time. What do you guys think. I was having a hard time thining about what to tell him. By the way he's 17.

If he doesn't care about speed, why not just pick up a nearly brand new Civic EX coupe or something? With the deals going on right now, he could probably get a brand new one if not a '99 or '00.

Between your two choices, I'd go with the bimmer. I'm not so sure either choice is going to be terribly reliable though. Insurance on that 'Stang for a 17 yr old is gonna be a killer. Not that the bimmer is gonna be much better.

Neither car will win any "reliablility" awards. That being said, he should seriously consider the Ford. It should be MUCH less costly to maintain, should problems arise.

Have you ever priced parts for an older BMW??

LarryB, just have your friend go to AutoTrader.com or some other site and look for them around your area.

for 15k, I'd would look into (I know it's common and all) an Integra GS-R like the one below: http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/v...ode=&address=9
