New 6 speed owner

Took delivery today.

Type S
6 speed
San Marino Red
Ebony
no navigation

Car seems perfect...

Interestingly of all the 6 speeds I test drove this has the best clutch. Not nearly as abrupt as earlier version.. It was quite a pleasant surprise. I'm one happy old guy.

Congrats, on your 6 speed, are you in TX? I've gotten used to my clutch, it actually makes for faster shifts, I guess is why Honda designed it that way. Mine engages pretty low so I'm fine with that. I'm wanting to experiment with using the clutch only when I have to. (shifting without it!) But I've been scared to try it on my new car. I used to do it on my Legend.

whoa whoa WHOA

shifting w/o using the clutch, isn't that very detrimental 2 the car???!! even if u do it at low revs???? damn man, if u don't like the clutch so much u should've gotten an auto...i hear the tranny problems are fixed for 03 (after july 02 production)

No I don't mind shifting at all, that's why I bought this car :P it's just sometimes at normal driving when the synchros or whatever are aligned you don't need the clutch. If you do it wrong, yea you'll be grinding. As long as there is no resistance it'll slip right in, so to speak
I think people do it all they time and just don't realize they've done it, if you happen to not engage the clutch all the way in. I won't try it if the vets say don't do it, not that big a deal really. I thought it was common knowledge, maybe I'm wrong.

Just remember that not using the clutch prior to shifting places more stress on the synchros. You're likely trading clutch life for tranny life. Clutch is cheaper. It's your money and your choice.

I got a San Marino red 6spd a week ago (parchment interior, also non-navi). Agree with you its nearly perfect; much better balanced than the auto I had. Today had the Comptech sways removed from my old car and put on the new one---very tight and even better handling.....looking forward to lots of miles on this one

If you match shaft speeds, I don't think you will cause anu problems to the synchros. I have done it for years on various cars I have owned. Never any metal in the tranny oil when I change it.

Thanks to all the previous CL buyers that kept this car alive til 03. Sorry you're sick.
When I saw the CL prototype I thought what a cool car, and then the G1 CL came out, ugh.
Then I was so hopeful for the G2 CL but was disappointed with the styling and no Manual!! So I kept my Legend it was still a fabulous car. so I kept waiting and waiting.
Then Acura got smart, finally, and I went for an 03 6sp. I'm used to the styling, kind of bland, but looks aren't everything and the car is loaded and I love Acura coupes. It's a fine car too.
Maybe I'm selfish but I hope it's the last year. I don't want a better CL coming out after mine either!

I agree w/ 123456speed...I'm actually happy I don't see many CL's on the road. As far as styling, could have been better but the sublte lines are starting to grow on me. Too bad they didn't offer a 6spd in 01'. Oh well...a CL auto is better than nothing!

I won't be doing any shifting without the clutch. Its impossible to match revs very often. You are using your synchos to force your high compression engine to change RPM. This is a fomula for short tranny life.
My clutch is great. I'll use it.
