Need some answers on Comptech exhaust, please.

OK, quick question: Is there a different exhaust for the CL and TL? On Autocarparts.com they are listed as different item numbers!

I bought an exhaust off of a TL guy and then I sold it because the tips stuck out too far. My mechanic said that the tips did not stick out that far on another CL he did.

I hope this is the case since I miss that sound so much!!!

Anyone with pics or info. please post!

Thanks.

Yeah, it sure looks like this is the case.

I feel like a big dummy.

Anyone have a Comptech exhaust for the CL for sale?

I think they are the same. When you said the tips stuck out too far, at what point did they stick out to?

Actually I think that is correct...I think the TL has that extra inch from the body style and the bumper is probably longer too.

Yeah, the TL ones should be an inch or so longer.

JZ, how come you didn't just have a muffler shop chop an inch from the pipes near the tips?

Btw, I was talking to Rick today (getting an oil change and such) and he mentioned your exhaust length problem.

Oh and I thought I saw you the other night on 370, but the wheels were stock and so was the exhaust. You have aftermarket wheels now right?

here's what i found...three different part numbers for exhaust...accord /tl/cl...headers/springs sways all share the same part # so one must conclude that the exhausts vary

Well, I guess there are different exhausts then. Mine stuck out so far it looked like flames should be shooting out of them at any moment! No problem on even-ness, though. Both mufflers were perfectly level.

Man, crap like this makes me nervous because I don't want to buy these again and get the same thing, or an uneven hang, but I love the sound of them. I wonder if Comptech just screws up every once and awhile--I remember seeing someone with a really poorly constructed header about a year ago.

I ran into this when I bought mine. Yes, the TL and CL are slightly different, and do have different Comptech part numbers. Comptech told me the hangers are placed in slightly different places for each. Otherwise, they are identical.

I also saw a lowered black CL-S sitting in the lot at the dealer when I left the lot after my oil change, etc. But it had stock rims too. I didn't look at the tires closely.

I don't know how in the world you could chop an inch off of the tips without making them look like crap. Plus, by the time I do that and everything else I'd be in almost for the price of a new set.

So, I sold for what I paid, recouped the money and will put it toward the next set of used or new ones shortly. I really, really miss the sound even though it took me awhile to get used to.

And, I swear that there is a performance difference with the exhausts--maybe only on cars with CAI and headers, but the car felt faster with them on than with the stock set-up.
