Need some advise....

Hi Guys!
Need some advise here.... a bit of a background on my CL...

Its a 2002, I bought it in 2005 with 9000 miles on it from ebay... well it turns out that the entire car was rebuilt when I took delivery of it and I didn't realize it until I went to get it inspected. Long story short, I couldn't return it because the seller vanished and I was left out in the cold.

Even thou the car was rebuilt it has not given me any problems at all. @ 65 K my tranny went out and the acura replaced it under factory warranty.

Now I have 110 Ks on it and the car is starting to fall apart, probably because of that major accident. Stuff is starting to rattle and the paint is coming off (25% is already off). I cant figure out what to do! I'm confused if I should just sell it or throw in more money to get it fixed? Will I also need to change the timing belt soon?

I'd sell it and run as fast as you can from that car.

The tranny will go out again. Just read up on it. The CLS's are dropping like flies.

You will end up spending more than the car is worth.

Is it a salvage title or a rebuilt title?

hmm when you bought it it was 4-5 years old and only had 9000 miles that would throw up a red flag for me right there.

Rattles are somewhat normal not sure if its accident related or not.

I would get rid of the car now if I was you. The car is basically not worth much at all. If you do the paint work etc., you always have the tranny issue and the 105k service to pay for also. On my car I need to replace door seals because of leaks, one of my headlights started condensing up, my fender is rusting etc.

If you try to sell it and cant get much for it maybe just ignore the paint and rattles and just drive it into the ground.

CH46ESeaKnight: I hear ya brother! I just started to read up on this tranny issue and I'm shitting in my pants...... the first time I had this issue, It went from good to un-drive-able in 20 minutes,
and the dealer told me it was a $4000 job. Im glad acura paid for it!
The title is clean thou.... I checked carfax before buying it and it didn't raise any flags. But when I say the entire car is rebuilt, I mean the WHOLE (every side) car was fucked up and repainted.....

CL-S progression 01 - Na man... Mine is a gold....

brian6speed - I was fresh out of college and need a car really bad for work. I was a dumbass for buying a car off ebay and not looking at it first.
It looked great in pictures and the dealer was swearing on his mothers grave about the excellent condition of the car! Oh well I paid for my stupid ass mistake... and it was an expensive one too... ended up paying 19Ks for it!

Dude there is a 105K service due as well? How much does tht cost?

The is a major issue with my alignment, It goes off every 2 month....

How much do you guys think I might get for it?

You should get rid of it by either selling it or trading it in. If gold was the factory color then it's not a type S and with those miles and in poor condition I think you would be lucky to get somewhere between 2 to 4k for it. Take it as a lesson learned and move on or else I have a feeling it will keep haunting you with its problems.

nspec_ya4 - its in Virgina bro... Ill take some pics and post them.... the guy who repainted it should be charged with a felony! The entire clear coat is off!

Where in VA?

Rattles are normal, sadly. The auto tranny is a known problem. The paint could be like that for a few different reasons. One of which might involve care. Have you ever waxed or sealed it? Unprotected paint gets eaten up by the sun and other elements.

Also, if the car had a rebuilt title, how did Acura good-will the tranny? Usually if the car has a salvage/rebuilt title, all warranties go out the window.

Carmax isn't going to give you shit. As previously said, you wont get much for the car if you sell it now. All of us are in that boat though. It just sucks that you have a rebuilt title on your hands as well.

Maybe set the car on fire?

it is most likely a cl-p. Easy way to tell is what color is the paint in the engine bay/trunk cause they wouldn't have repainted that.

If you just go for a trade in and they try to lowball you like always I wouldn't expect more than 2g also. Sadly the best option would be to wreck/total it as long as noone gets injured.

Park the car in a wooded area on a hill.
Pop the car out of gear, jump out and let it roll backwards into some trees.
file your claim and that 2 just went to 5.
Not though I would pull that shit but, some would.

Im in Northern VA. I was watching COPS on TV the other day and they were showing some units that patrol a desert highway that runs from LA to Nevada.... It seems that its is notorious for folks just "forgetting" their cars and filing insurance claims haha

The engine compartment is gold indeed and its a base CL...

Does our CL have the same amount of punch as the base 2010 TSX? isnt that a 4 banger?

Yes the base TSX is a 4 cylinder but it is also available in a 6. Im not really sure how much power its got though. Personally i think that there are better ways to unload your car than wrecking it yourself and filing a claim.

According to my documentation:

In 2001 Sundance Gold and Naples Gold were available on the CL-P, with Sundance Gold being a Type S color as well.

2002 - No gold for the CL-P. Sundance Gold only available for the CL-S.

2003 - Only Naples Gold was available on the CL-P. No gold for the CL-S.

According to the OP, its a 2002 CL-P in gold. Either my documentation is wrong, or there is a lot more to this scam. Possible VIN swap?
