You can buy that same tirerack one with a different name on it for $20 at harbor frieght.

Harbor frieght is the greatest place for cheap tools a lot of stuff there is made by the same company that makes craftsman tools.

Here are a few. Harbor Freight I'm thinking about the $9.99 one. Almnost seems too cheap though. I like the $90 SK too. I need to get one before my headers get here. My Craftsman came loose at the handle so I need to get another unless I can find a place to re-calibrate it.

Don’t buy a 9.99 Torque Wrench. :shakehd:
Guessing the Ft Lb value by feel with a hand wrench would be more accurate.

Buy a quality brand and spend at least 40-50 bucks.

True cheap tools usually don't end up being cheap in the long run. This looks like the exact same one that the tire rack sells for $29 and Northern tools sells for $39 though. Even comes with the same case.

at turny clicky thing.

I've got a similiar one (3/8 10-75 ft-lbs) from craftman, but I think the harbor freight ones would probably be ok for torquing down lug nuts. I wouldn't use it to rebuild a motor. If you have to go cheap you might want to just get a beam type (non-clicky needle guage thing).

I've got to buy some tall jack stands (for my VW bus), and the stands that Sears sell are made in China like the harbor fright ones. Some things from harbor fright ain't that bad, but you gotta know how to pick 'em

I just might get a HB torque wrench too, so I can save on the wear and tear on the Craftman which I'll use for more "delicate" situations.

I have the Pittsburg one harbor frieght sells. I've had it for 2 years and there isn't nothing wrong with it. It's got a lifetime warranty and they will recalibrate it for me under warranty if need be. Some expensive tools are worth it to me, some aren't. I've broken a few cheap imitation vice grips, now I only buy the real ones. Always buy tools with a lifetime warranty.

How many blood blisters you get from those cheapo vise grips? I think I'm going for the Harbor frieght wrench. If I ever have to tear down a motor I can borrow my buddy's snap on. The craftsman one I had looks cheaper and only came with a one year warranty.

Bought the Harbor Freight wrench. Looks and feels pretty stout. Lifetime warranty, can't really go wrong. Also bought some Jackstands that were on sale for 12$ a pair

glad I had a store up the street, save a penny on shipping

Harbor Freight $9.99 only if you are going to torque your wheel lugs. I don't know if I can trust it if I am doing a cylinder head job . Even tough they are cheap I don't think they are off by more than +- 5%. I think that is close enough for wheel lugs. If you don't trust it crank it up to 85ft lbs like I do.

i have one of those from the tirerack as well and it works great for torqueing down the lug nuts. i've only one complaint though, the 1/2" to 3/8" adaptor broke. the 3/8" lug twisted off.

What do you guys think about using this for headers? Says its acurate to +/- 4% same as the $70 Craftsman. The $200 digital Craftsman is accurate to 3% in the clockwise direction. Harbor freight also has a killer deal on the US GEneral aluminum race jjack for $89. I got mine for $149 and love it. 6 pumps to full height weighs only 35 lbs.
