Need help....Tinting my beater

Whats up guys, well I bought a 91 Integra GS as my beater since I do alot of driving. It is black w/beige interior. Pics will come soon....... and I need some tints on the car, it is just to open and bright, I am so use to tints! I do want to spend any money besides maintenace on this car and especially $200 for tints, I rather do it myself and practice on the beater, soooooooo my question is How do you tint?? I have seen them do it before and I know I can do it, but is there any usefull advice??? Yeah it is not going to be perfect but the car is not perfect also so I really dont care! I did a search but nothing helpfull came up!!

Also where can I purchase a roll of 35% LLumar tint in the tri-state area!! and how much $$ does a roll of tint go for???

it is a pain in the ass to tint, ive done a couple cars before and it is deffinatly a pain in the ass. you can get tint from pep boys/ autozone

the way i learned was to spray outside of window with a mix of soap and water, and put the film on the outside, cut it to the demensions that you need for the window and then go inside the car and clean the inside of that window with the same soapy water mix and a razor blade, then squegee it dry, when thats done ,go back outside and peel the layer of film off the tint that wont be used , now spray the whole sheet with ths soapy water bring the tint inside the car and put it on the window , you will also need something that will push all the air bubbles out and push them out,

thats a real cut down version of it , trust me ive done it and it is worth the money to pay someone to do it

Tint’s gonna look like SHIT if you’re just learning. It takes years to get good at it.
And don’t even THINK about doing the curved back window yourself.
Plus if the area you’re working in isn’t ultra-clean, every speck of dust will turn into an air bubble or defect.
Just pay for a quality job or you’ll be sorry.

First of all why does everybody call it TINTS? TINTS is not a word!!!

Second of all tinting is not quite as hard as everybody is making it out to be, but by the time you buy the tint your self you will find that its not much less than having someone do it for you. If you plan to do it yourself check out www.tintdude.com

what shawns said,
your 1st couple windows will have bubbles and prob dirt if you don't use brillo. i used to do my own windows. friends wanted me to do theirs but didnt want to be responsible for the results.

you need a SOFT squegee(sic) so you don't get scratch marks on the tints

The next thing you will try is to give yourself a haircut. Don't try this at home!

start from the middle and work your way out...well, that's the advice i was given from a tinter. I've tinted a few cars, the only bitch part i ran into is really tight, slant spaces. Have fun w/ the 3rd brake light! Once you've tinted your car, give it a little help by using a blow dryer and don't open your windows for a few days.
