Have had a problem with car not starting. After turning ignition key to position where all lights are lit on dashboard, I then turned key to start position and EVERYTHING goes dead. Nothing works. I lose the presets on the radio, the memory positions for seats and mirrors. It feels as though someone yanked the battery out of the car. I remove the key from the ignition, get out of the car, fool with the remote keyless entry to lock and unlock the car, get back in and voila, it starts. Have to then put in the code for the radio, reset stations, and reset memory position for seats and mirrors. This all happened once, about two months ago and the dealer was "unable to duplicate situation". This week the same thing happened five times. My CL, type S is at the dealer now, but when I left I heard the dreaded words, "I've never seen anything like this before". I own an'01 CL, type S and an '02 TL type S and my wife and I love them both. First time ever posting to anything.

Since this is the second time it has happened, I would suspect they may replace your ignition switch?

Should probably check battery cable connection. When tracing electrical probs, do the easy stuff first. Good luck.

 

Thanks for your help. The dealer found a very loose positive battery cable. Duh? You were right on the money.
