need help quick!!

Ok I just picked up my car from the dealership a hour ago. I got home, and as I was pulling my stuff out of the trunk, I heard like a fan or something turn on in the engine. I waited for 9 minutes, but it wouldnt turn off. So I started the car and turned it off again. The sound didnt come back for like 5 minutes, and then came back again. I turned the engine on and off again, and the sound didnt come back. Its been 20 minutes now and it hasnt come back.

My question is, do you guys know what is causing this, or why it is happening? I dont want my battery drained by thi

Here is what the dealer did, most of it in last week:

- Tried (2) 2001 trannies; both failed the test
- Tried new computer; failed to fix slipping
- Tried 2003 tranny (auto of course); no more slipping, power and performance seem as they were, if not better

ANY input would be helpful

P.S. sorry for the long post, but i just want to give you all the facts

If the engine is really HOT when the car is shut off the fan will run for a few minutes after the key is removed.
If it’s running longer then that the temperature sensor may be bad.

I would go this second if I could, but its 7:30 in the evening here, and its closed. I just was concerned that it would stay on all night, and hence force me to buy a new battery :o

Humidity won't make that much of a difference.

I can't see it running for more than a few minutes, what is your engine coolant gauge showing at when you turn the ignition on?? And you are sure it is the radiator cooling fans running??

They could have done something to cause the engine to run warm after the trans-plant (that is a play on words). Another possibility is that they replaced the Fan Switch 3 and used a lower temp unit by mistake, just a thought though.

Regardless, take it back to them tomorrow. If you are concerned about the battery, just disconnect it for the evening.

FUCK the fan came back on again after I drove for a while. But it shut off after like 10 min. The problem is that its arround 75 here (a REALLY REALLY hot night i guess...fuking california weather). So, I'll take the car in tomorrow morning, and see if I can get this fixed. Dam Im soo paranoid though...I dont want my car gone for another 2 weeks

ok took it back to the dealer today...but he couldnt find any problems. The check engine light wasnt on either, so he said nothing is broken. Im sure its nothing, but having my car make noises after i turn is off is highly disconcerning
