need help launching

i have an 04 tl, and i cant find a launch for the car that will work. It bogs down way to much with all the launch i have tried. I also lost 2 races this week basically from the line.i dont think i would have beat ant7701 anyway, but i would have had a better chance if i took off from the line better.if you guys have any ideas iam more then welcome to try them. 14.8 so far the best time at the track, excuted by the "DRAG MASTER". me nothing better then a 15.0. so need a little help guys?????

Same here, I'm going to the track tonight with the 6 speed again. Should get some real runs in since it's a street car only night. Don't have to wait for the pro cars to finish.

Better tires will help...

I found that in order to do well off the line, I had to be patient. Flooring it did me no good. A gradual ease into the accelerator provided me with my best times.

thats what I find so weird how come your car doesnt peel tires...it has like too good of traction

Vin dont worry once you give the TL to the wifey...you can get the Evolution you want

put the K&N filter but I doubt it will help your launch and I think thats the biggest problem. I wonder if 6 speeders have the same problem??

how are you launching now and what's your typical 60'? try using 1/2 or 3/4 throttle for a second and then go full throttle.

I'd be interested in seeing what the electronic throttle is doing at the line. Pull off the intake plumbing and have someone load the TC and watch the throttle plate.

vin i really dont think u need help on your launch, some cars can only do so much, i just think its the torque converter in your car. i still think the best method is just to nail it, no getting the rpms up or anything, or evan try to do what ant said give it a good half stab and than nail it. who knows, ill give it a try one day remember i got the maxima to a 14.4 stock so well see what happens.. and i know my bro wants the title of drag master lol so hell just have to run ant one day and see whats up. but the track is different than the street. once your car is going the power is there no question.. u have to become one with the car be the car feel the car talk dirty to it something. comeon bro cars are just like girls they love it.. lol and lou u have to race ant that will be very close!!!!!
vin try sending the pics again to me the cableguy364@aol.com.. i never got them, make sure u put @aol.com..

yeah this is my theory as I've mentioned before. In my drive by wire Audi you can't launch hard, lower than 4000 RPM or so. The throttle closes and you bog the car big time. Come out of the hole slower than just getting on it from a normal start. On an AWD car this isnt a huge deal. If you need to keep the revs up on a FWD, that would make things difficult.

Yeah you'll probably have to figure out what the drive-by-wire is doing and work around it. I got rid of some of the bog in my '03 6-speed by slightly turning the TPS in the direction of the throttle opening.

Man that would take all the fun out of having a quattro! I used to love launching the old S4.

I read that Acura made the launch of the new TL a little smoother and slower than the old TL-S/CL-S. It kind of like the relaxed start of many Mercedes. It's meant to keep the car from lurching, as the purpose of the car is a luxury sport sedan, not a drag racer. There's probably little you can do.

if you're not getting ANY tires spin then I'd experiment by putting more air in the tires. what's your tire pressure at the track? a little tire spin is good.

yes and no...I have a 6 puck clutch and 12 lb flywheel, so launching above 4k RPM isnt much of an issue. With a stock setup it was sucky.

20V or 30V S4?

Vit.....I actually have an 2000 A4, 1.8T quattro with some goodies. Some random pics here.

my picsture poster

If the CLS 6 speed was out when I bought my car I probably would have gotten one. We have a 93 legend and a 2001 RL in the garage as well. And a 99 CBR600 and a 15 year old honda lawnmower as well :>)

20v. Now I see what you were saying. It bogs below 4k rpms. That's true with the older turbo quattros too. Really have to get the revs going then gently load the drivetrain before letting the clutch out all the way. It's nice when you get it right though.

You can't power brake for a launch in an 04 TL. I felt that when you do power braking the computer go into another mode(maybe a fail safe mode) I think the best way is to nail it in sequential shift mode when the light turn green.

For what type of car??

If Acura, then you are out of luck unless you traded in for an RSX.
