Need to get rid of salt grim in Engine bay

What's the most effective way to get rid of salt grim and deterioration in the engine bay. Is there an effect and safe spray on that works?

I've hosed off my engine compartment a couple of times, and I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to get it steam cleaned every couple of years. I've noticed that some metal lines have become pitted from the salt corrosion, but I don't think that can be fixed without a little elbow grease.

My CLS is a daily driver/winter beater, so I'm not overly concerned about it, but it would be nice to find an easy way to keep things clean.

Green Stuff and the pressure washer at your local do it yourself carwash. Also, if you carefully spray on a Silicone based Lubricant to exposed metal it will help to repell all that salt and road crap.

Try not to spray too much water on to a PDB (Power Distribution Box) and alternator.
