I don't think so...I'm from NJ too, and I'm gonna turn 23 this year. I wanna get a CL-S soon so I called companies for insurance quotes and the lowest so far was $5000 !! They said it was because I am under 25, and therefore, I'm considered a "YOUTHFUL DRIVER!" I have no points, no accidents, and only 2 parking tickets. It doesn't help that I'm from Jersey City (the new stolen car capital)

You guys need to go to Liberty Mutual. I'm 23, and my insurance is $1900 per year, fully covered with a $250 deductible. Last year when I had my 2001 Maxima SE, my insurance was only $1600. Give them a call, I guarantee they have the best rates in NJ. Good Luck!!

Everyone is right ... I WAS with State Farm, but I've been with Liberty Mutual for a few years now!
With leases (which I have), you are required to have FULL coverage and the highest limits -- I ALSO have the 'no threshold' option, which means you can SUE for just about anything -- and I pay around $1750 a year for my CL ... My old 98 Accord was like $1600 a year (full coverage) before I got the Acura ...
Oh, I'm 29 and single ... it would have been even LESS if I didn't go with the full threshold option -- most people DON'T get that anyway -- but I wanted it !
It's kinda like the difference that other states use of "Limited Tort" and "Full Tort" ...

They have so many discounts, just call them up and ask them what they are. For example if you work for a certain company like Merrill Lynch, you get a 10% discount, or if your GPA was over a 3.0 you get like a 15% discount...etc. Give them a call, see what they say.</STRONG>

I think this is the problem, I've only had my licence for like 4 years. The longer you have your license the more discount you get, also I finished school, so I can't qualify for student discount. I was getting it while I was in school.</STRONG>

Now I'm really confused of what the reasons would be for such a big variation in qoutes.

Holly shit, I just called Allstate just to check on their prices, they quoted me for $2800 for 1 year with $1000 deductable. So I am staying with Liberty Mutual even though they charge me $2200 for the same deal.
Shit, I am 24, had my licences for 4 years, no point. Its rediculuous, and the guy also told me that I will not see noticable difference once I turn 25. WTF ???
NJ sux big time, its completly monopolized with insurances.

That is really wierd. I pay 1290 a year with a 500 deductible with allstate and I just got on my own policy 6 months ago. In fact I just renewed it 3 days ago. I don't know why you are all getting such high quotes

CL16, that sounds way too low. Where in NJ do you live? I have to believe that is the reason for your low rate. Also, what is your coverage? Did you go with the state minimum? Are you married? There has to be something that you are not telling us.
PS - I get a discount with Liberty Mutual for having a Fleet credit card. I think I still have the telephone# and code you have to use for the discount somewhere. One more thing, if you ever need customer service from Liberty Mutual, use the 1-800 internet call center number listed on their web site. They are open late hours and Saturday, too. I have nothing but positive things to say about them.

As for myself I've got my own car and my wifes (2000 Mazda 626) along with 3 points for my wife turning against a redlight. My insurance is First Trenton and I'm paying about $850/6months. $500 deductible. (Those who think having a high deductible is wrong it's a good way to keep your premiums lower, providing
you are not prone to lots of tiny accidents. I'll be raising mine to $1000 soon which will decrease my deductible by some. The most terrifying part is that my kid plans on getting his permit in about 4 months. Even though he will not own a car yet by then my insurance (my agent warned me) premium will skyrocket by another $2000/6months.
StonedCL
Let us know how it turns out. Although with you unfortunate driving history you'd better score the lottery. On the bright side you do not own a 12cyl car. Imagine the insurance nut on that?

Make sure they have all your safety equipment marked down, cause they didn't have my alarm check off on my contract. I'll get back to you with the rest of the discounts.</STRONG>

also, things like property damage, some people have state minumum of $10K , and some have $100K.
