Need advice: 03 Type S 6 speed manual
I'm hoping some of you have experience with this and let me know how it turned out for you. It's time to part with my 03 CL and I'm wondering if it's better to part it out or sell it outright. It runs well and the 6 speed manual still snicks into gear just like new, but it has some cosmetic issues, something is wrong with the restraint system and an occasional ABS error. It's still fun to drive, but maybe there is a strong market for parts for this car? It has all options, including NAV, and has made a great daily driver the past three years. I know I had a 97 Lincoln Mark VIII that I ended up parting out and easily made more off it than selling outright, I just don't know the market for this particular vehicle. All advice is welcome, but especially from anyone that has parted one of these vehicles recently would be great. TIA.

Question 1 would be do you have the means to take apart & store stuff? Like an engine trans, interior parts, body parts etc...
Question 2 is how many miles & what needs to be fixed. Some of if may be easy & free if your covered by the SRS warranty extension. See the thread in the FAQ.

Thanks for the advice on the SRS, but I bought the car after it had been mostly rebuilt after an accident (that's where the cosmetic issues are from), so the SRS extended warrenty is probably void. I talked to my local Acura dealer about it when I first bought it but they wouldn't tell me anything w/o paying for an hour labor first.
The car has about 135K on it, and I can remove most items myself, although I'd probably sell the engine and tranny with the rolling chassis.

You wont get much for a rolling chassis and engine/tranny.
Those interested in the motor/tranny wont spend more then $1600 for the entire swap. A stripped chassis is also worthless to someone who wants a CL.
Depending on cosmetic issues, if you fix the SRS light and all the services are up to date, you can sell it for around $6-6500. Does the car have a rebuilt title? If it does, expect less. If it doesnt, Acura should still cover the SRS issue.

I don't think there's a big market for the parts. Parting it out would take a long time and in the end you may make a little more than selling it outright but it's going to take a long time to do so which will offset any extra profit. Just sell it as is. Get the airbag taken care of and seatbelt issues are covered under a lifetime seatbelt warranty (just got my belt buckle replaced free of charge as a sensor in it had gone out causing the airbag light to come on).
