Nbp cls

I got my '01 CLS back in November '08. It's been a great ride. Some of you might remember when I had it detailed and found out it wasn't plain black, but it was NBP.
I got it scheduled to get wet sanded and sprayed with a clear coat on Monday (23 March) When that is done and I get the M5 trunk lip installed I'll finally add some pictures.
I can't wait. I love that paint job so much I am going to have my '68 Corvette (turbo-charged 383 stroker ) painted the same color. It's already black.Hope it looks as good as the CLS.

how much is it to get it wet sanded and clear coated? I may want to do this also

I think it's going to cost some money to do...

I don't like the thought the wetsanding an entire car...seems like there is room for error.

People are doing it though...

Seems like a cheaper alternative so...it's attractive to the wallet.

I am a repeat customer at this paint shop. They did a great job on my wife's RL. They are giving me a great price of $600. I don't know what it would be if I hadn't dropped $4K on the RL. (It beat getting her a new one) I also think they need the work.

For now I'm keeping them stock. I haven't found any that light me up. It's an S with 17".

I screwed up. I took it to get it wet sanded and forgot to tell them to debadge. I remembered it after the shop closed for the night. I hope to get them early enough in the am to get it done before it's too late. If it is, I'll just have to do the best I can.

Im very interested in seeing how respraying the clear works out. I was always told that the clear needs to be laid on top of a fresh, somewhat wet coat of basecoat for it to truely bond.

The hood was chipped too badly, so it (the hood) will get a complete repaint. The rest looks real good after the wet sand. They did not spray a new clear coat. Misunderstanding on my part.

Here it is. It was cloudy out today, but I wanted to put some pics up 'cause it looks so good. I'll get new ones up when the sun comes out. The hood was repainted, but the rest was wet sanded. Still a few chips in the doors, but the rest looks like new. They even buffed my headlights.




I got the badges removed, too.




Next will be the trunk lip spoiler. Not sure about changing the wheels. Mine are in good shape and I like them as much as any others I have seen.
What do you guys think?

I think you swap those wheels for some minty fresh 03 CL-S wheels with some nice BF-G tires on it.

I think I may know someone who has them for sale, btw

I got the 217 R50 17 Michelin Pilot MXM4. I got H rated instead of V and saved a lot of money. I don't go over 135 mph often, so I figured it was OK.
Real nice on the road and quiet, too.

The wife is a photographer. She thought the reflection of the beautiful flowering trees would form a more picturesque scene and have great composition. I didn't want to get dog shit on my Michelins. She won.

Just an FYI...you see those extra set of [IMG][/IMG] tags to the left & right of your dog?

If you grab the link as an image link...

It already has the [IMG] tags accompanying the front and back of your picture address.

So there is no need to use the "Insert Image" command...

Just copy and paste.

Just so you know...and your pictures can come out cleaner.

They charged me $400 for the wet sand and $1300 to paint the front end. The Hood was too badly chipped to wet sand. (They stripped it down to the metal). The front bumper was scuffed up as well and had a dent on the left side. It really looks good now. I wish I had the whole car painted, but that would have been twice as much. The back end still looks really good. No chips there. A few chips on the doors. No dents anywhere, though.
