Yes this type of thing will happen from time to time.

I was coming over the George Washington Bridge once and it showed me cruising in the East River. Also sometimes I'll be placed on a street running directly parallel to the one i'm on.

Usually in about 30 seconds or so it will correct itself after it gets updated coordinates form the satellites.

What version NAV disc are you running?

Current version for CLS is 2.11c

Try the link below or go to your owner’s link @ www.acura.com

https://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/isap_ap1/ha.header?p_make=Acura

The NAVI will drift from time to time, and depending on heat, mood, and other conditions, it will seem to suffer brain lock on occasion. Mine seems most likely to get “messed-up” when it is really hot out and it has a planned route in it.

Well different points of interest now show up on the screen as little red dots. Things like Schools, govt buildings etc.

Click on them and it brings up their address, what they are and telephone number.

The other big thing is the ability to plan trips using unverified routes.

And what is Unverified Roads?

It won't give you a warning everytime just in the beginning and before you use the 'unverified' road.

I believe that Alpine is the only place to get the "real" upgrade. (But, I didn't do an exhaustive check of EBay.)

I know you didn't ask this, but the disk is also two-layer which is good for having more rooms for features, but makes copying difficult when the data is rendered “useless” with the "lossy" compression used by DVD ripping software for movies, etc. IOW, the PC-based DVD copy software – that works by use of “lossy compression” (SQUEeezing) is of little use for NAVI data and code.

On the bright side (or dark side) there are some dual-layer DVD writers that are either out or coming out soon for your PC.

And... that's all I'll say for now...

YMMV

There are indeed. I just bought one from newegg for 74 bucks with free fedex shipping. It's an NEC dual layer dvd burner. It looks damn good for the price. I'm going to try to make a copy of my 2.05 navi disc. If i can successfully, then I'd like to try the 2.11 disc.

You don't need a dual layer burner to backup version 2.05B. I just burned a copy on a single layer DVD burner b/c it is only about 4.3 MB in size.

So if we are to burn the NAV disc, what type of disc does it need to be? DVD-R or DVD+R?

Thanks!

there is an option on the menu to reaquire your position when it is off... press that and then just put the cursor on the road you are really on, and it will readjust.
