Navi LoJack?
Navi LoJack?
So if the Navi system is always being tracked, and the car gets stolen can I call Acura , or the company that is doing the tracking for Acura to see where it is like LoJack?
The current NAV technology can only RECEIVE info from the satellites, not TRANSMIT.
It receives signals from multiple “birds” and triangulates its position on Earth.
That info is displayed on the screen in the car, but it has no way of sharing this info with the police.
However, the new 03 NAV has the OnStar system with the ability to send an outgoing signal so they know exactly where the car is.
The OnStar brochure that I picked up at the Philly Auto Show has all this info
Of course you have to put up with the little rubber “nipple” on the roof.

I guess that’s true, but they might be able to pinpoint its last position before the signal went “off the scope”.
I’m guessing on this of course.
Maybe I’ll test it out when I get mine.
I’ll park in an underground garage and then “call” and ask if they can give me directions for dinner.
