NAV problem/question
In Calif. we do the daylights savings thing and we moved our clocks ahead 1 hour this last weekend. I attempted to reset the clock on my NAV screen, but I cannot get past the first setup screen. "Others" cannot be highlighted to allow me to get into the second setup screen that allows "clock" to be changed. Do I need a dealer "reset" on the Nav system?

I had the same problem... I think you acutally have to have the map on the screen to be able to change the clock. You can't do it from the first screen that appears when you turn the car on... at least that's what worked for me.
Good luck

Does "agreeing with the disclaimer" mean just letting the screen go to the "star display" with the time (which it does automaticlly after about 30 seconds) or do I acutally need to access the map and input directions? Thanx!

Lets see go to the map screen push the set-up button at bottom the next screen will come up push others the next screen should come up the next sceen will come up. Go down to the word clock & push that then the screen for clock adjustment comes up. Set the clock & just push return button & return button in the next screen.

Once you know how to do it, it only takes 10-seconds to adjust the clock w/NAV.
That’s less time then it takes you to fold up your MAP and put it back in the glove box.

I gotta say one thing about NAV: Last Easter Sunday we were driving to my dreaded brother-in-law's and the normal freeway route was totally jammed. I activated the NAV system and it told me to go a way I never knew existed. Ta-Da! Got there with time to spare. Unfortunately, it couldn't tell me how to avoid my brother-in-law.

What I want to know... is why a device that is satellite connected and time dependant can't auto update its internal clock. Out of all of the devices in my house only two were able to auto update 1. my linux box which is running ntpd (network time daemon) and 2. my windows 98 box.
Here are the devices that did NOT auto update: 1. Nokia 8260 Cellphone (supposedly can update time from network but it has never worked) 2. Motorolla Talkabout pager (supposedly can update time as well... never seen it work) 3. Sony Directv/Tivo reciever (which supposedly sets the clock from the satellite - but it couldn't figure out DST) 4. Acura CL w/Navi
Thats pretty pathetic if you ask me. But I guess it proves that Microsoft's bloat ware is infact good for something.

As far as I know, it does update its internal clock all the time. Try and add 5 minutes, then wait a day or so; odds are it will have the correct time the next day. Just go into the backdoor mode and you can actually see the UTC time, with seconds, being received from the satellites.
Daylight Savings Time is a different animal though, with only most states playing along consistently. How the heck is the car supposed to know where you live? All you have given it is a time zone. For it to do it correctly, you would have to have another checkbox in there somewhere saying "does your area have daylight savings time".
