Naturally Aspirated 9.9 Second Honda?

Yeah guys, I remember reading somewhere about a "Honda" (not sure if they included Acura in that) which does the quarter in 9.9 seconds without spraying or any forced induction (turbocharger, supercharger, etc.)

Is it true? I'm sure it'd have to be a small car... my guess being the S2000, but damn, I'm curious about this.

Bisi ran a 10.03 I believe, not at this Pomona event. Yes, its a single-cam F22 hatch - great guy, BTW - friend of mine.

It's probably up at around 2.7 or 2.8L. Custom crank, rods, pistons.. cams... making about 300whp on a 1600lb car!

Single Slam?

The f22 is a single-cam motor (SOHC).

I remember hearing/reading about Erick Aguilar's Civic hitting the 9 second barrier all-motor, but this car is not daily driven.

No way... they are full race-cars running on Alcohol. The quickest NA Civic that can drive on the street (sans slicks, obviously) belongs to Max from Lucky Racing - 11.5s E.T. in the 1/4.

Damn, that's crazy.

Why don't these people supercharge/turbocharge their cars?

I'm sure it's speed they're going for, so... why not jam even more air and fuel into them pistons? Think that engine is pushed far enough already or what?

It's a different category. However... they could turbocharge their cars... but have to rebuild the engine an entirely different way. All FI gives is more power.... and with FWD the first 1/8 mile is pretty even... and then a FI car starts pulling way. The FI cars run about 150-160mph in the 1/4-mile while the fastest NA car runs about 131. However, the FI cars have a weight penalty of 200-300lbs depending on displacement and # of power adders.
