The RES is the IMRC on the Type-S. It was referred to as the RES mystery mod as Honda kept quiet about what it was until the release in 2001-02. Pretty certain about this.

I remember reading about this way back when I was a lurker. Didn't the original designer show up to SEMA with these? Threads were up about selling them but it was all secretive at first, and then just fell through. It looks like in theory it would add more air volume into the intake manifold. I bet another company could make one with just that picture to go off of. P2R? Maybe...

Someone did try based of the pic & it didn't work out because no one knew what was under it & how it actually made the power increase. It was claimed to be really cheap to make & simple, so it baffled them.
I disagree that it was the IMRC. That was already on the car. The RES/MM was discussed mid 2001-2002. Maybe it was part of it somehow to make the power increase however.

Im not sure. I have never seen that pic. Maybe so? I just remember the discussions about it. It doesnt look like that would clear the hood?

as u guys may or may not remember , doug foss i.e. syncivic is who built my engine ... his res did work , but was prone to failure it used carbon fiber "flaps" to enhance resonance a sreen was added to bottm to keep engine from ingesting them once they failed ... no one that tried to build one ever knew what the under side looked like and assumed just more volume ...

That is correct . . . . it was a fantasy dream mod as it was not too expensive and produced nice dyno results . . . but the reed issue and other things Doug would not discuss doomed it . . .

Don't know how good P2R is, but they may be able to look in to this approach. As typeR says, there is more to it than just increasing the volume.

As for clearing the hood . . it came really close. I knew someone else in the area besides typeR and they also confirmed much of this.

I hope it comes to pass, but I'd have to loose the ThermoBlock spacer or raise the hood space.
