My tale of woe....

Well, as of this writing, I can officially say that Scottsdale AZ sucks. I played golf on Wednesday afternoon and left my briefcase in my rental car. Upon my return, I noticed something was not right and then discovered that the car had been broken into and there went my $300 Hartman briefcase, along with my Sharp Actius laptop, Smart Media card reader, car keys and remote for the CL-S, the valet key to the Type S and just about my whole life. Through some dumb luck, I took my digital camera and cell phone with me so they didn't get those. The thieves broke into about 6 cars undetected in the same parking lot at the Scottsdale Country Club. Anyone have a clue who I can give the tab to? Homeowners or auto insurance?

Tough call, I don’t know if the comprehensive on your auto or theft on your homeowners would cover that.

Either way, I guess it will end up costing you your deductible.

Even if you were a long way from home, if your address was anywhere in the briefcase I would get the locks changed on the CL.
He might have relatives in Jersey that he plans on sending the keys out to.

PS.....Are you going to be back for the MEET on Saturday ???

gto2050: Man that sucks in a BIG way!

Did you have 'insurance' on the rental??

Anyway, I am pretty sure that the stolen items are covered under your homeowner's policy. The car itself, if it was damaged, would be under the car insurance policy.

Good luck and sorry to hear about the bad experience.

See what I mean when I say that golf is a dangerous game!

Damn, thieves are slimmier than eels fucking in a barrel of snot!

Long ago same thing happened to me while my wifes car was parked during a brief camping trip. They got my Olympus 35mm camera but I was lucky to get that replaced through homeowners insurance. So yes, as mentioned above, your homeowners "should" take care of your stolen toys.

Good Luck

Thanks guys. Shawn, I am already back. Of course I'll be at the meet. Now I have to buy one of those new-fangled cool remote FOB's for the TL-S!! There is an upside.

Auto insurance should cover it.
If, you coverage extends to the rental, not all do.

File a claim right away, hope you have a police report. Receipts are a lifesaver.

Good luck.
Was that stuff in the cabin, or in the trunk?

My briefcase was on the floor behind the driver's seat. There was a suitcase in the backseat and clothes hanging. They didn't touch the suitcase. They popped the trunk with the inside release and stole one of my regional managers briefcase and PC bag. It was 110 degrees and I had left the windows cracked about a half inch so the windows wouldn't pop. They used a coathanger or something like that to get in. Bastards.
