...by the way, what would be considered illegal in illinois for hid bulbs?

No problems with the Police in Illinois w/ any of the color temps Ive used. Ive used pretty much all of them lol

the stock bulbs are D2R and have a little metal shield on the bulb that helps reflect the light downwards towards the reflector assembly in the headlamp assembly, hence the 'R' stands for "Reflector".

D2S bulbs are the ones most aftermarket companies use and they are designed for cars w/ prjector assemblies, i.e BMW, Cadillac, Newer Acuras....
The only "disadvantage to using a D2S bulb on our cars is that it may or may not gice off more glare and could "annoy" other drivers coming towards you...I havent had anyone :tonguefaw or flash their lights at me.

I my pretty sure there all the same brightness as far as candle power but I just installed 8000k fog lights to replace my 6000k fogs and I find it harder to see with them because every thing is bluer . My friend has a 94 skyline and he 3000k(yellow) hids they seem the brightest on back roads

Im rocking the 3000K low-beam look now "JDM"

lower the temperature = greatest usable light
