My friend got a 147 in a 55 ticket....whats gonna happen???
I was just wondering whats gonna happen to him. He has a 2001 Corvette and he got busted doing 147 in a 55 zone. He didn't get arrested nor did his car get impounded.....I thought for sure both would happen. So whats gonna happen in the court room?

There are a lot of depends here. A lot has to do with local and state laws. Other factors such at time of day and traffic conditions play a role as well.
I got one many years ago for 100+ . . . primarily because he couldn't catch up to me . . matter of fact he said his car was floored and I left him. :o
Anyway, he gave me a couple of tickets so I couldn't take defensive driving . . . which Texas law allowed back then. I'm sure I would have had a huge fine if that happened today.
Best of luck to him that's all he'll get.

License is GONE!
I got pulled over going 97 in a 45. When the cop walked up to the car he had his hand on his Glock and was like "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" By the time it was all said and done he reduced the ticket to 18 over. What was funny is that he annotated the ticket as follows:
Make:Honda
Model:Acura
Color:Blue
My car is Nighthawk Black There is alot of blue pearl in it though, especially with the bright spot light on it.

There's NO WAY I wouldve stopped after being clocked @ that speed. I'd definitely cutoff on the next exit and then tangent on some side roads. Sorry but that DEF requires some 'Smokey and the Bandit' creativity.
Peace.

How in the hell did the cop catch up to him??? He must have gotten help from further down on the interstate???
Where did this happen?
I can't imagine this guy won't at least loose his license. Jesus, that's fast.

I got a ticket for doing 110 in a 55 about 4 years ago, and that was good considering a few mins prior to that i was doing 140. Anyway, I called the number on the ticket and asked what would happen if i plead guilty and she said minimum of a loss of license as well as traffic school. So i called my friend who has a brother that is a lawyer. I requested a hearing, and he went and talked to the trooper before the hearing. The trooper said that since i was very cooperative he would reduce the ticket to 80 mph, which was a big help. So I learned my lesson and do not go that fast anymore.
Point is, if he was cooperative with the trooper, maybe he can have a lawyer sweet talk him into reducing the speed. If not, he will lose his license, pay a huge fine, and probably get dropped from his insurance. Speeding tickets kill you on that. Good luck.

I got pulled over for doing 120 in a 55 several years ago. It was about 3 am Sunday and al I wanted to do was get home. Oh well, never do that again. Anyways, cop pulled me over and gave me the whole i could bring your ass to jail speach and ended up giving me a ticket for 90. I went to court, plead no contest, paid court fees, had to do some special defensive driving for agressive drivers, and had 6 months of deffered adjudication.
The key to dealing with the cops is to be real nice and cooperative, then they are not as hard on you and sometimes they will put that you were nice and cooperative in the comments section of the ticket-that will never hurt!

I just talked to a guy who used to be an officer in IL. He said it really depends on the time of day, traffic, how cooperative he was, how soon he pulled over. I am sure if he gets a lawyer and was very nice to the officer he could get a reduction and learn the lesson of not speeding.
I hope everything works out for the best, as long as he learned the lesson. Should have read the post about speed traps.

It was 3:30 in the morning on a Friday night. As for why he stopped, remember......no one is faster the Motorola! For the Chicago guys....he was on 53 leaving Alumni Club....and he got stopped on Palatine. 3 state troopers pulled him over. He said the cop that came up to the car just shaking his head

still a Masshole
Damn...at least he was cooperative so he should find a lawyer and try to get it knocked down!
Cop must have been in a good mood to let him go! Damn, I've been pulled over going 20 above the speed limit and been yelled at!

OMG. That dude is straight-up fucked. I got pulled over 3 years ago, the first and only time I've ever done over 100 (I was going 110 in my NX). It was a 55MPH zone and I was racing my friend in a Prelude at 3am on a Saturday morning going to college. The cop was sooooo pissed when he came up to my car. He says "Let me ask you a question...what the hell is wrong with your head?!" I told him it was shoved up my ass, which probably wasn't a good idea because he thought I was being smart (I wasn't). Luckily he looked at my license and recognized my name because he knew my father and let me go. I almost had a heart-attack. But a few months later he saw my Dad and told him about the incident. Man, I got severly chewed out- almost got my ass kicked. I've only gone that fast one time since then- last week actually in my CL-S, I just wanted to see what would happen if I nailed it doing 75. I got to 105+ in no time...but I have an Escort so I felt a little safer.
Good luck to your buddy, let us know how that goes.

Wreckless driving.
And YuppieCL, let me be the first to predict that someday soon, you will become a grease spot on the road. Are you fucking nuts?
Just imagine what would happen to you if you got a flat at that speed.

Get a very good attorney. Test pilots need them.

Depending on circumstances, a good attorney who knows the local district attorney or assistant district attorney might be able to plead guilty to a lesser offence and make up the difference with a hefty fine (municipalities are not exactly swimming in cash these days -- well, at least not around my area).
(one set of info for IL)

And from http://www.legis.state.il.us/legisla...ehicle+Code%2E
(625 ILCS 5/11 503) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11 503)
Sec. 11 503. Reckless driving; aggravated reckless driving.
(a) Any person who drives any vehicle with a willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving.
(b) Every person convicted of reckless driving shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor, except as provided under subsection (c) of this Section.
(c) Every person convicted of committing a violation of subsection (a) shall be guilty of aggravated reckless driving if the violation results in great bodily harm or permanent disability or disfigurement to another. Aggravated reckless driving is a Class 4 felony.
