I believe when you get up to 8500k it turns the factory Hid color to a purplish.. Normally you'd want to stay in the 6000k-6500k range.

Im thinking purple and not as much light comin out. There has been many posts on this in the past couple of weeks... Should look clean. Post pics when done.

friend has these on a lexus. though he didnt have factory xenons, he got this kit that came with 8000+k, and it is very purple. it looks really nice though, and it is bright as HELL at least from his car. He blinds me even with the auto dimming rearview mirror, its too bright but its a really nice color.
I dont know if that is just his car, but his ballasts supposedly came off of an acura. Also, he burns them out every couple months, and though this could be due to his modified headlights, he has never had this problem before. I think with the same wattage as factory xenons you shouldnt have this problem but its something to watch out for!

Don't think that's brightness. That sounds like a ton of glare.
