To my fellow CL p ers

Everywhere I turn, Type S this, Type S that. Let's not forget; the CL premium is still a nice automobile. It still has 225 horses. It still has all of those nice amenities. It still has get-up-and-go. Not to take anything from the 260hp Type S (because the more I hear about it the more I wish I had one), but I think the CL p is overshadowed all to often by its healthier twin brother. I have a gold CL p, which can not be mistaked for a Type S because S's don't come in this color. I kind of like it that way. I am adding things to my car to accent the ques of the car. I don't want it to look like a CL s wanna-be. I want it to look like a CL p that stands out in a crowd of CL ps. So, to all my fellow CLp ers, you still drive a great automobile eventhough it's not talked about much.

I'm sure the last thing you're looking for is responses from CL-Sers, but I thought I'd throw in my $.02 anyway. While I'd highly doubt anyone here would ever take anything away from the CL-P, I'll bet the majority of CL-P owners do not fit the profile of members of this forum. Most people here are enthusiasts, and therefore will stretch if need be (sometimes a little too far, as we've seen) for the type S before adding mods. It's a young group...heck, I feel pretty old for this board at 27 (especially after reading about people here getting turned away from rated R movies). I'd guess most CL-P owners aren't the street-racing, mod-addicted, brag about kicking the sh!t out of a tricked out eclipse type. Obviously, there are some out there, but I doubt you'll find an accurate cross section of owners on this site. Most people that drive the CL (or just about any non-exotic car, for that matter) just drive it everyday to and from work, glad as hell they splurged and passed on the Accord or Solara. They can keep on doing that...the rest of us'll enjoy our cars to the fullest and learn from each other about how to improve them.

Hey schwartz are you the other CL-S I see in NOVA area??? If you ever see a white type S lowered w/ tints flashing highbeams and honking, don't think its a crazy person, instead just wave and i'll stop.

Hope to see you at the next NOVA meet.

Hey, I drive a CL-P and I am an avid car enthusiast...I also plan on modding out my car so that I can blow the doors of you cocky CLS owners. I bought my car from a salvaged auto shop for half the dealer price, about 14,000, and there is only about 2000 dollars worth in damage. (Just a few dents and scratches on the passenger side door) So for 16,000, that is a pretty good and cheap start for a CLP that is going to be heavily modded...plus, the perforated seats get nasty after a while.

Peace

Hey I have nothing against the CL-P. Some CL-S owners on this forum do have a superior attitude, whether talking about a CL-P , or a first generation CL. The bottom line is that we are ALL CL owners here, so let's put an end to all this CL-S vs CL-P stuff.

That's Pimp Gold on the type-S, Kvit.
Nova - yeah, that's probably me. No front plate - Colorado plate on the back. Just moved here...I'll have to get to one of these meets w/ you all.
MugenPower - that's one helluva deal you got there. Maybe now that you've got it fixed for 16K you can sell it for 24 and have a great down payment on a type-S! J/K - keep us informed of your mods. I'd like to see a race between stock s and moded p.

I really think there are just few CL-S owners with that arrogant attitutde towards the CL-P. +95% of the CL-S owners are cool and willing to share info with other CL owners.

but, check out this little post war I had with an ass hole CL-S owner named aeon:

I dont see why anyone would look down on a cl-p if they have the cls. It is the same car. I had a 01 cl-p that got totaled and i luckily came out of it with a cl-s 6 speed. Do cl-p owners really think cls owners are cocky? I don't look at a cl as a car too be cocky about, but maybe thats just me. I haven't noticed it at all. Seems kinda stupid too me. If you aren't into performance and don't care about having 35 less hp, then get the cl-p. It also has the dark green and the gold, which imo are the 2 worst cl colors followed by the sundance gold. Its not that i think those colors are bad, i just like the others better. I also think out of the 2 that the cl-s is the better deal. You get alot for a little extra money. Oh and about the seats i had the non preferated for over 2 years and the preferated for over a year and a half, and i like the perforated better.

Old threads keep coming out all day.

I have never driving a CLP, only a TLP, not a bad car, served it's purpose.

I own a CL-P
Am Into Performance
Love all types of cars
Race other cars whenever it is safe and fun to do so.
Am slowly modding my CL-P

This board/caters more towards CL-S owners and us CL-P owners feel left out of most things, but i think that is just because:
1. There are more registered CL-S owners
2. CL-P owners tend to fall back into the shadows becasue they are ashamed to own the "inferior" CL-P.

Most times it feels like if you dont own a CL-S you just wasted your money, or you are not driving a "Real Perfomance Car"

I dunno, these are just my opinions, I am happy and have no problems with anyone.

I own a CL-P, the CL-S was $1,000 more a year in insurance. i also opted to get a navigation system instead of the extra hp. three years ago, i would have bought the CL-S, but since than a close friend and an ex-gf of mine has died racing. i have absolutely no desire to race anymore and the 225 hp is more than enough for me.

Respect to the premium model....YES of course
but personally I don't understand the purpose of modding one for performance unless u put a blower on it and boost the hell outta it due to lower compression. but hey...if thats all u can afford for the time being...much props. It's still way better that an AV6

I have to say, without a doubt, I've never felt unwelcomed here. Granted there are a number of threads regarding the CLP and an exponential number of threads regarding the CLS, we all have realized that they are one in the same. I even remember a number of threads before the '03 6speed came out where members had to collaborate on the differences between the two. Granted, there is a definite presence when standing next to a CLS, the CLP can achieve that same look with the same comptech springs and a set of rims. It's up to you, the driver, to prove the other driver wrong. Cars do what they're told to do, not better, not worse, just a set of instructions delivered by the driver. So whether you have a CLS or a CLP or a first gen CL, make it yours and put your style into it. And then drive it like you stole it!

But seriously, I haven't been the most frequent member on here, I have been around since I bought my CLP and that was back in late '01. I've floated, kinda been a lurker at times, because I've had a lot going on. But any time I've ever posted or replied to a thread, I've always felt like there was an extreme amount of respect in each response to my post. So without sounding like I'm kissing up here, just enjoy your ride. This board is here to celebrate the CL. That's why the domain name is acura-CL.com not acura-CLS.com. And if someone gives you flack, dish it right back. just remember we're all friends here!

What profile??

Hey, guys, they are both great cars- the CL has a smooth sophisticated ride and handles like a dream. Mine will probably stay pretty much stock, but it still draws looks wherever I go, and I enjoy seeing you guys take it to the limit. I may pass mine on to my 8 year old in 2013. It's a classic all around. I need mine back from the paint shop soon or I will be in withdrawal.

i have an 02 CL-P. and used to have an 00 TL-P (obv not an S). i am very used to the 225 hp. i have never really gone all out while driving an S, so i dont know what kind of differences there are. i am very happy with the CL-P. its a lot of fun to dirve, and i love fucking around in 2 gear on small, curvy, congested Westchester highways. ( BRX River prkwy, Saw Mill, etc) so much fun.

there is enough power all around to have a good time

one thing that u always must watch out for is to not let any Accords make a fool of you. even the old stock V6s (200 HP) cud give you a run if you are taking them lightly.... it has happened to me before

I guess virgin plastic comes from very special plastic trees. Maybe that's why Honda stopped making the CL's. They ran out of plastic trees. It is a real benefit of having a Type S.
