My dad wants to ge rid of the CLK 55, what should he get...around $80K???

Nicky - What is your father looking for tho. He is coming out of a coupe that is under 5 sec 0-60 that has luxo interior and class. What is he going to top that with??? Is he looking for speed or luxo or both. I REPEAT DO NOT GET/DO NOT GET THE LS430. My father has that boat and even with all the options you wont breach 80,000 bucks or even close. He has EVERYTHING including the cooler behind the rear arm rest. The car doesn't do anything for me. Lexus is below mercedes in my book. Have him stay with mercedes. What about a new E55 or CL or SL class. IF your father looks at BMW, then he needs a M series car to compete with what he has already. I wish i could tag along when he starts looking at cars in 80k and above range.

They start at about 80-85k, I would stick with MB, two reasons:
awesome car, holds the best residual value ....
I had a chance to test drive the new E500, all I can say is smoooooth......in all aspects.
An E55 would be the best bang for the buck. As far as CLK, I am not too crazy about the looks...
Damn, I could use 80G's right about now...

here's my ideas
a pimped out 2003 RL(rims,DVD, the works) that would be tight.
a Benz G500(this is pure pimp this is what you see rappers rolling around in)
a Benz S500(this is pimp too this has EVERYTHING on it)
CL500 Coupe Benz(300 hp and 339 lbs of torque )it would toast a CL no offence guys

Not true. The Z06 is a great car for what it is. It isnt a luxury car, but a sports car. No Benz made is a sports car. A good friend of mine just bought a Z06 because he was so impressed with it. In the past he has owned Porsches, BMWs, MBs, and a Ferrari. This is one of his favorite cars he has owned over the years.

all the reports ive seen show that car for around $115K, but i bet it will end up getting far more than that due to the supply/demand i wouldnt doubt the car selling places for close to $175-$200K

Here's where i'd put my money. shelby cobra, csx 400. Big block, american muscle. Get the all aluminum 427 and have a blast. Plus this car really won't depreciate like the other's that have been listed. Also, it's a rather unique ride, and if it doesn't get attention by it's looks that side pipe sound surely will.

That is no kit. It is a real cobra built today from leftover parts from the 60's. A big block 427 car with an aluminum body goes for about 90k. No mercedes/viper/vette will touch this car. There is an article in the new Motor Trend about them.

he has a RL less than a week old and he's bored dang
I average keeping a car about 12 years from the year the car it's manufactured.(like my old Accord it was 88 I had it until right after i graduated in the summer of 00) then I got my current ride. I'll probably keep this one for about 3 or 4 more years (it will have about 300 thousand on the ticker seen hell plenty of times)
