My CL's trunk is about to be done ...

I'm positive this time . All I have left to do is putting the Optima yellow top and side panels to cover the JL amps.

Pics are coming ....

Sweet I like! I especially like how you put all that in and did it in a way to keep some of the trunk space free too!

Thanks for the compliments guys

I did all the works myself (including building the box). It's sealed box that houses a JL 10W6.

my2sense,
CL doesn't have stock sub. It has a pair of stock tweeters though .

I got another pic to show off

Nicky,
I dont crank the 500/1 all the way up. This way, the sub is only fed with clean signal.

Johnny,
I guess you only believe me when you experience it yourself! I told you many times to put in a ground loop isolator but you refused and tried to live with the noise :thumbsdn: and you are welcome

btw, the shining thing is my front plate

well...

It was my mistake thinking that a ground loop isolator and a noise filter were the same thing, apparently they aren't .

How thick is the Plex Glass that you used......I think I want to build a new box for my 10W7!!!!!! I want a Plexi bow so you can see the sub......plus, I want a smaller baox, but I don't want to pay someone $250+ to build one!!!!

I think it's a 1/4 or 3/8.
Smaller box for the W7? Are you serious? Did you read the spec on that W7? You cannot just make a box and throw the sub in there. Each sub must sit in a box with the volume matches the manufacture's spec. The box you have is built by JL (optimized), I wouldnt wanna mess with it.

The box is big.....IT'S PORTED. I think that the reccomended sealed box is like 1.5-2 cubic ft. It would be a lot smaller than what I have now!!!

Wow, is all I can say.

I just upgraded my system today. I lost the Eclipse 5081 in favor of an Alpline 7998 along with the XM receiver and the 6-disk MP3/CD-R changer.

Can I get some detail on the install you did of the amps? Did you make a piece of MDF, affix it some how to the sides and then attach the amps to it? I have the same amps and I am trying to figure out a good way to mount them.

Thanks...Michael

Oh man. You are out-dated. Here is how my trunk looks like now http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...threadid=76937

Regarding how I mounted the my last setup, I mounted some MDF pieces to trunk wall, behind the trunk liner. Then used screws to secure the seen carpeted MDF board to those other MDF pieces, then mounted the amps on top.

Well, twins will do that to you. The install looks good.

You want to send me the old boards?? How did you attach the MDF to the sides?

wetb00:
I pay nothing for the install. I did it all myself. I paid 215 shipped for the Compustar alarm on Ebay. Again, paid nothing for install. My system sounds really nice but I havent had thought about compete to anyone. Wanna compete DIY?

ZmZmCar:
Why would you want my old boards. It costs more to ship than making them. I had a customized fused distribution block on the board on the left side as you can see. The boards are about to make their way to the trash can. I used screws to mount the MDF boards to the side walls.
