My car is running low 5's now!!!

Gotcha! The new '99 M3 I got that is. I got kinda pissed off that the 6-spd was coming out for the CL so I decided to do even better. That's what Acura gets for dragging their asses and not pre-announcing things ahead of time like a lot of other manufacturers do.

'01 Cl-S White
'99 M3 Silver

Its called the Osborn effect in computers. Long ago (1980's?) a guy named Osborn had a small company that made a (portable?) computer. People liked it and he sold a lot of them. Then he opened his big mouth and gave out details on the new version he was working on. It was so impressive, people stopped buying the computer he had for sale so they could wait for the new one. Without revenue from the old one to finish development on the new one, he went bust before he could release it.

buddha,

Congrats!

You're sig looks a lot like mine used to....

Hmmmm.... Silver 99 M3, huh? Sounds like mine. Do you have Contours and the rear wing? Is it a 2 door? Black Leather interior?

I bet you can't stop smiling every time you drive it!

But what percentage of prospective CL-S buyers are actually going to buy the manual? Not many. If this is to be the only change they should just announce it since it won't really hurt this year's sales much because most buyers will just go for the auto.

I don't think pre-announcing automobiles will result in others stealing designs and/or performance. Think about it. This is an enthusiast board as such for as long as I have been on this board (practically since inception) there have been wet dreams about a 6 spd manual.

Tom2

It's Silver w/light grey interior. Forged alloy rims. All the options including the heavier power seats (oh well). Wing from the factory (no third brake light at the rear window). 18K miles. Did you sell yours yet?

Sounds nice.

I still have my M3 and I think I'm gonna hold onto it for another year. I was seriously considering an e46 M3 as a replacement, but I may have other plans instead...... hmmmm......

How much did you pay for the M3? (If you don't mind me asking) If you don't want to post that info, then no problem.....

If YOU'RE going to buy an Acura, please make it an NSX. Those Acura owners actually HAVE something to smile about.

Welcome to the M3 club buddy! '98 Yellow here So how do you like the acceleration compared to your CLS? How does the handling differ along with other things?

Would love to know (to add to Tom's comments).

Like everyone else have said, these are two different cars, albiet powerful ones. I work downtown, so now I can really appreciate the smooth ride of the CL-S. The M3 definitely accentuates the lack of handling prowess in the CL. Again though different cars for differnt purposes. However, I think that for a Type S, the suspension should be tighter and body roll less. Leave all that for the Premium. As for power, of course the M pulls like crazy but that could be because of the gearing and the inline six. I do miss the xenon and auto dimmer. I do think that if the CL-S was lighter, tighter suspension (lower and wider better tires) and had better gearing it would be that much better. At least with the six speed manual the gearing issue will be addressed. Cause right now the engine's potential is wasted.

oh yeah, I do miss the insane surge of VTEC kicking in. You know the out of control feeling one gets when the torque steer goes nuts. Miss the homelink too. I'll continue to mod the CL-S when the market for it grows. Maybe now that I won't be driving it much I'll go and replace the stolen Type S badge
