OMG...the new M5. OMG. Holy Christ....that thing rocks my world. Blows away the last gen. Embrase the future...could BMW have done better? Maybe. Could they have continued with the same design scheme? NO.

with all the competition out now, the new m5 will not be class leading like it was before. however, for its price, it should kill any car in the same range.
btw, when are the cl65 amg coming to the states?

not exactly a good time to buy a 4 year old M5 when the new one is coming out in less than a year. that 2000 M5's resale value will drop pretty quick with the introduction of the new one. and it will look old-hat

Anyone who buys a mass-produced car as an investment is seriously short in the smarts department. The resale value won't decline b/c of the new car's launch, it will though b/c of age. I've been watching the prices on 540i Sports for a couple months as I'm getting ready to buy soon (obviously used but I don't care as long as there's a warranty intact) and there's been no appreciable dropoff in resale b/c of the new 5's launch.

With a BMW 5.5L V10, you wanna bet?!?

Even with the current M5, what it lacks in straightline performance (versus the RS6 and E55) it makes up for with handling prowess.

The M has never been about raw power as much as it has, finesse. My cousin's got an M3, completely hooked up with a racing differential from BMW Germany and all, and that thing can not only haul, but fucking handle.

Racing some SC430 that got the jump on him, they hit a slight bend in the road and he pulled about 6 cars because the SC driver didn't trust their car to be cornering as well as the M3.

The M5 is more refined. I don't know about the new look, it looks like they're trying to cater for a younger crowd, and I'd really have to see some glamour shots of it to begin to like it.

But for sure, the M is not about horses.

BMW does, however, overcharge for everything =)

the car is detuned alot in 1st gear because it has enuff trq to blow the motor mounts off the engine, but once it shifts to 2nd gear it would walk MOST exotic sports cars

I think the new 5 series is a step down in both exterior and interior looks.
