Would i be able to hang with my friend? i have a stock 97 3.0 CL and he has a 1999 Toyota Tacoma TRD Supercharged.....if not what would i need to be able to hang with him without getting NOS or nething like that

You will need NOS to beat him. Or upgrade to the New CL-S and then you should be good to go.

my friend had the 2wd 6cyl trd prerunner tacoma and he beat my 3.0 regularly

i think that you should just avoid racing your friend in his trd tacoma. my friend had a 4runner with the sr5 package and he would race me in my 3.0. he would actually be slightly ahead off the start then we would be even till right under 60, at which point i would begin to put serious distance between us. but my point is that when we only raced till 60 it is very humbling to be in a "tie" with a suv. or a truck in your case.
my dad's car (bmw540i) and a f150 lightning both run 0-60 in 5.4, but i would feel so much worse losing to the lightning just because it is a truck.

Isn't the TRD Tacoma the one in the commercial that was a "no holds barred" quarter mile against a Lotus and at the 1/8 mile the track turned into an offroad course?

as a proud co-owner(my dad and I share it) of a 2002 Toyota Tundra V-8 4x4 the toyota Trucks have GOOD TORQUE . I had a 94 Dodge Dakota V-8 4x4(only reason we got it is cause I wanted to get a Tacoma V-6 and get a supercharger kit on it and dad was stuck on V-8 so we got the Dakota (POS)plus we pull a trailer which we load pretty good(probably with the trailer loaded and the weight of the trailer) we're around 4 tons. and at the time(this was about 95 or 96) we got the Dakota it was on the jack more than it was on the road. Then finally (thank god) Toyota came out with a V-8 pickup(cause dad and I didn't want to go back with a American made pickup) so last October we got our New Tundra and has be ABSOLUTELY AWESOME.
now moving on about the V-6 Tacoma with a Supercharger there's no way with a 3.0 your going to hang with him if your stock(no offence)
my Dad's friend has one a 99 or 00 4x4 V-6 Supercharger Tacoma(nice truck)(if i remember right that's a bolt on 50 or 60 HP)(and they come out the factory 190 HP)so we were one of the few in the area with the new Tundras with the V-8. so (I wasn't suppose to but I did) took it over to his house and we had some kids shut down a backroad(that hardly any traffic runs on) we took off and let me tell you with my stock V-8 against his Supercharged V-6 it was dead even. he thought he'd walk all over me. I got him out the hole(i knew i would cause I more torque) but his Supercharger began spooling out I'm like SH!T
