Well I'm new to this side of azine I'm usually in the 3g tl part but I might be on this side more often because I'm considering getting a 2001 CL-S to add to my acura garage.
The seller is selling it at a price that I can't pass up (rather not say how much) its a white cls with 165k.
I'm so exited and want to ask what are some things you guys suggest I do to keep the tranny up since I heard that cl transmissions are not the best.
Also what are some good bang for your buck mods that you suggest? I forgot to mention its an automatic

 

test drive the car first. listen and feel how teh trans shifts. check the motor mounts.

best bang for the buck,
option underdrive pulley, hell even a light weight stock size pulley will be a great gain
headers, intake, tb spacer and intake manifold spacer, high flow cat. exhaust.

Does any body know how much the ron Jon body kit cost?

 

$800 or was it just over $100. imo. i like the kit a lot, but the front lip kills it. its like a tongue sticking out.

 

That front lip reminds me of the square body kits used on late 80's, early 90's Nissan hardbody trucks I saw in Detroit when I'd spend summers there; they had the hydraulic dancing beds. Yes a little dramatic but every time I see that CL lip, it takes me back to NWA and those trucks!

 

The front lip definately looks like a plow.

You guys are right the Ron Jon kit does look like a plow in the front. I think I might go with the tl aspec kit just gotta custom fit it.

I got the car today its really a project car because the tranny is bad but I got some connections and for the price that I got it for it was a complete steal. You could practically say I got it for peanuts lol.

I dont know about that i love my TL and i have yet to see the full power of the CL so as of right now my baby is the TL.

 

cl is lighter then the tl, so will be faster in the end, so a better car to start with
and with her not knowing how it drive stick, just think..... she will not be able to drive it (so no curb rash on the wheels)

Does anybody know if a 02-03 CL-S transmission will fit an
an 01 CL-S? My guess is yes but just want to double check.

yes it will. but if your going to do that just put in a 3G tranny.

 

2g 6-speeds are $$$$$$$$ , but would be the best fit, but 3g 6mt work just fine too (and alot cheaper), just have to fix the reversed shifter for it to work properly

so any of the rebuilt trannies from honda should already be updated to the latest spec

 

people are still having problems with the ones from honda.

can you elaborate on the reverse shifter? What exactly needs to be done to get it to work on the cls?
At this point yes I want an auto even though manuals are more fun.
yes I was talking about doing the 6 speed manual swap but now I'm leaning more toward the auto transmission.

the shifter ethier needs a new pivot point weld onto the tranny case, or you might be able to just get a shifter that came with a 3g tl, to get the correct shifter direction

so that first gear is in the upper left courner, where otherwise it would be at the bottom left courner

so instead of:

1 3 5

2 4 6

it would be:

2 4 6

1 3 5

unless of course corrected

 

fixed. missed quite an important gear

 

paid $1100. you would need to pm NVA-AV6 hes doing my swap. hes a crazy knowledgeable guy who knows his stuff. pm him he would be able to tell you all that has to be done.

Is this for an automatic tranny? And how would I know its been corrected? Is there a specific year that those trannys have been corrected?
