Mt. Bike rack for the CL-S???
Does anyone have a mountain bike rack for their CLs?
I'm looking to get an inexpensive trunk one, I don't want anything over the roof or anything like that.
I found this on Nashbar but our trunks are pretty long.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Yeah one of the trunk ones will work... Just be careful that your bike doesnt move around while your dirving.
I have a thule roofrack: It was expensive but its definatly worth it. installs quick
your bike is locked
no worries of your bike scratching your car / some idiot rear ending your bike into your car..

I'm actually selling my Thule roof rack (A year old). Figure I'll place it on here before I place it on E-Bay. The Big Mouth is brand new (I had two; sold the one I used to my buddy). I also have locks all around plus for the big mouth. The unit works very well...I've hit over 100 mph with a bike attached (mind you this was at 4:00 am) and it stayed snug and tight. I'm letting it go for $300 + shipping. I'm getting a pickup to haul the bike around otherwise I would of kept the rack.

go to www.4yakima.com roof racks are the best. with a wind fairing, the noise is cut down considerably not to mention the cool looks.
got mine for 300 out the door. no shipping and no tax if you're outside of wisconsin. great tech support. good luck.

DO NOT GET A TRUNK RACK!!! I worked as a bike mechanic for 5 years of college and saw tons of damaged paint on both cars and bikes due these crappy things. Spend the extra $ for a good roof rack from Thule or Yakima (be sure to remove rack when not in use, or it will damage you door molding - removal is a piece of cake once the rack has been set up and properly installed). Either that or get 2" reciever hitch and rack.

One advantage Thule has over Yakima is that the insides of the crossbeams are coated with rust-proof paint. My Yak rack beams have rusted badly on the insides. If you get Yak, make sure they now coat insides or if they still don't, just spray some Rustoleum in there yourself. Other than that, it's a toss-up between Yak and Thule. (I prefer Yak since they're based in California.)
If you want to save a few bucks, Yak's cross-beams are nothing more than 1 1/16" pipes coated with a thin layer of plastic. If you find a place that sells pipe in 1 1/8" diameter (since you won't have the plastic coating), you could just paint it black and it would work the same as their $42 crossbeams. Buy Yak endcaps and nobody would know the difference.
