Mounting of V1 Remote

Just wired my V1 into the fuse box... much better.

For those that use the remote display, where is the best place to mount (on steering column?) and what did you use to mount it? i.e. velcro? or is there something better.

Thanks.

Shawn.........I mounted my V-1 as per your instructions. Great. Now with your remote do you have to hit the control knob on it to mute the V-1 or doesn't it matter if it's the head unit or remote? Love the location on your remote but reaching it??*&%^#@$!

What did you use to hold it in place?

I use four tiny balls of blue poster putty to hold the display in place.
The Velcro patch they give you with the remote leaves too much of a gap.

You can use the “mode” button on either the main unit or remote to change operating modes or MUTE an audible alarm.

I placed it there because when the alarm goes off I can check the arrows for the direction of the source and check my speed all with a quick downward glance.
I originally wanted to mount it above the speedometer but the clear plastic over the gauge cluster is in the way.

It’s actually quite easy to reach the button on the remote while driving.
Just don’t try it when you are in the middle of making a turn.....DOE

I am so close to buying a V1, I can practically taste it. I don't have much of a choice since...well never mind. No flames, thank you.

Just one thing. Is there a new V1 coming out soon? I called Mike and he said "No way! It's just a nasty rumor started by those biased http://www.radartest.com guys." No joke, this is exactly what he said (without my prompting).

I am about ready to buy the V1 w/remote and mount per Shawn's patented CL-specific mounting instructions. No flames, please.

I have a question. Shawn....I hear that you are the man to go to for instructions, but I also know that you have a new gen CL. Do the instructions work for the 1st gen CL's? Or would it be a little different? Thank you very much.......oh and where do I go to read up on your instructions on the install? Thanks

Go for it Ken. Don't forget I bought a bel 980 before I got my V1.

BTW, I took a laser rangefinder and "shot" my kid driving down the road from about 300 yds. I had the crosshairs on the license plate and the V1 responded immediately.

I want to do more tests later, will post results.

tw1112,

I posted it in a fresh thread.
I'm not sure where the fusebox is on the first gen CL or if the V1 will fit up by the mirror, but the wiring should be similar.
