motor mounts feeler thread:

anyone interested? it's the 2 motor mounts (front and back) and maybe the pass side too. it's going to be a little over the stock price, but it will last longer than one, helps prevent or illiminate wheel hop, better accelaration and gas mileage

i just want to know if anybody is interested, coz we are on V 6 P. it will need 20 people to get it going. It applies to all V6 CL (1st and 2nd gen)/TL/6th gen Accords so far we have atleast over 10 people on that site.

if these turn out to be a success we are seeing the 3rd gen TL and 7th gen Accords bright future too

They're supposed to last the life of the car unless you get acid on them or something horrible along those lines.

No price estimate yet. It could be cheaper or more then stock, depends on how many people we have. Going for 20 for each set 6th gen and 7th gen. So if TL peeps want some then 20 of them would get each of them a good price.

Also, how stiff do you think they should be? We will most likely make the mounts good all around so they will help control engine rotation and not transfer too much vibration through the cabin, open to opinions.

i would say make them the same or just a hair stiffer than stock. im going to get an engine damper to control the engine rotation. i think that im going to need new mounts here soon.
depending on price and also how soon we can get them.

I actually just did the basic motor mount upgrade with the Poly and refilling the mounts. My mounts weren't even busted and it was still a great upgrade, the car feels more planted when accelerating and smoother when I get on the gas starting off.

If these mounts that SirSig are offering are better than our OEM mounts filled with Poly then I would jump on it right away even if your mounts aren't busted. I am astonished by the difference with mine and I wanted to thank all the people who did a DIY on this.

If it's just the front and passenger side mount, its not too complicated, but you have to get your hands into some tight places. For the passenger side, its useful if you take out the cruise control computer which is only like 3 small 10mm bolts. For the front, you need some long 1/2 extensions and an airgun helps.

Overall, total time to take off and put on for both is about 2-3 hours.

Thanks, that's doable. For some reason when I hear "motor mounts" I always think the engine has to be lifted for installation. I knew it couldn't involve all that though.
2-3 hours isn't bad at all.

are these made completely separate from the stock ones or are they stock mounts filled with polyurethane as we've seen some do?

Wait wait, the engine does have to be raised a couple inches to relieve some of the pressure on the mounts. If you don't do this, it will be a bitch to get the bolts out with the pressure of the engine pushing against the mount.

Raising the engine is simple, if you have a bottle jack, you can use that and a piece of 2X4 wood. You only need a couple pumps under the engine and that will relieve the pressure on the mounts.

Well that would've sucked if I didn't know that piece of information.

Thanks

i can't believe we have Pokemon cards fans here Yugioh ftw!

but on a serious note...

on pictures #1 and #2, they said it's going to be built in one piece (triangle?). i'm not exactly sure how, but it's not going to be a "shock absorber like"... on #3, it's going to be replaced with urethane insert together with hard metal material mount.

they said, they'll might build 2 type of mounts... street and racing. but what we most focus on right now is to know how many people who's really interested on the product.

btw, i have changed my oem twice before and the one i have right now which is filled by PU seems to look like it's going too

i dont understand how you would do this on the CL for the front mount since its hydraulic fluid inside, and in order to increase the stiffness, it would be difficult. just curious. here is a picture, the center one is the cl front mount, as you can see, a very different design.

btw, I spoke with Alan about these. I'm going to take a look at them when I fly in to Cali again at the end of the month. Sounds like a great mod for those making the extra torque.

oh man, you should see it. We can't take picture of it coz it needs to be patented first. i'm gonna ask if i can draw a simple picture of it and post it. but, if you are in SoCal we are having a get together with the people who make them and you can see it yourself!

Come on peeps, this will be the first time i heard someone make us a mounts for CL/TL/Accord 6th and 7th gen. you can tell them which application you want (race/street/drag...) and they'll do it for you it's just depends on what you like. I've been told "street" mounts is more like a stock feel with a very little to none vibration, only tougher. I'm going for the "race" set-up and try that, anyway, it's LIFETIME GAURANTEED if you break it they will replace it! but i doubt that will happen...

here's the place:
C&Cautotuner
20209 Valley Blvd
Walnut, CA 91789

BBQ start @ 12noon

Cocoa and I can vouche for this people, they're one of the best at their field, cheap labor, but quality work!
