Most interesting sighting
I thought I'd share this pretty cool story:
Yesterday, I was driving down I-684 in Westchester county NY, and I see a gray exotic car merge in from one of the exits. For a second I couldn't tell what it was, (I first thought it was the Saleen S7) then I realized from the guy sitting in the middle of the car, and from the back, it was a McLaren F1!!! I've never seen one of these in person. Very cool looking, and the scoop that goes from the top of the roof to the back is just plain cool.
Well, the guy pulls next to me (I'm in my Z) and then guns it. I didn't even bother to try to race because I'm sure I would have looked pathetic. The sound out of that car was amazing and I've never seen anything move like that. It seriously looked like a fighter jet taking off. He did it a few times on the highway (the highway is wide and empty) where he really slowed down, then gunned it to probably at least 150+ (he became a dot in the distance).
I tried to see if I could recognize the driver. He was a white guy and looked to be in his mid 50's. His license plate was RL ONE and got off at the Bedford NY exit (a bunch of celebrities live in that community). Could it maybe have been Ralph Lauren?
It was an awesome experience to see that car in person, and the best part was to see someone actually driving the car the way it was meant to be driven instead of sitting on display or an old fart driving under the speed limit.
It's times like this that I wish I had my digital camera handy, but I'm sure all of you know what that car looks like anyway.

I saw one of them here in Boston coming through the South Station tunnel. I guess one of the guys around here who owns a bunch of car dealerships owns it. It really is an amazing car to see driving on the road. Unfortunately this guy was driving his through rush hour traffic over some spectacular potholes.
My gf, who was in shotgun, thought I was having a heartattack the way I reacted.

Well, there's 3 of 'em in my county. Nice cars, but a cool $1 million is too much.

Three in one county? I find that hard to beleive. Yes, quite a few owners of the McLarenF1 have two or even three, but there were still only 65 ever made, and the #65 chassis hasn't been sold, plus a couple have been wrecked. The ones in the US that I know of are Jay Leno's, Wyclef's, A guy out in Scottsdale, AZ (but he was selling it), and a few more. I think the figure was ten were imported into the U.S.

Have you ever seen the Newport Beach, Orange County area? There are more Ferraris and Lambos running around than civics. Come down here and I'm tellin you, Newport Auto Center has one in the showroom ready for a trade of a cool $1M, in 3 difference colors.

The McLarens are not on the list, but they were in the showroom in Feb. Sold maybe? Some people have too much cash... sad
