Hey guys,
Finally going to go run a sea level track, though it will be hot and humid. Anyone in S. Fl want to meet up at Moroso on June 30th? I should be there with a few new GTP friends I have met online. Let me know if anyone can make it and we can meet up. Finaaly hoping to get my uncorrected 13 sec slip!!!! Need to go buy a helmet first.

14.3 is my PB at LACR. Corrects to about 13.8, but I will be happy to just eek 13s.

I'll post the results.

Well, 13s did not happen...far from it. Temps were in the low 90s, humiidity in the 80s. Damn that kills performance. I was also having tuning issues. I made some mod changes, and my coolant temp was too high. You also had no place to dump your stuff, so i had to run with spare and tools in the car. Also had to drive through half the water box to stage!!! Not good on street tires.

My best was only a 14.4@95 w 2.19 60ft. most of my 60s were in the high 2.2s. It wasn't just me though. Stock Infinity G35 manual coupe was running 15.5s all night. lightly modded 2000+ Stang GT 14.5-14.6. The S.Fl GTPs were running significantly faster than me, they launched better and were running catless. I need to ditch my cat.

Probably won't do the track again until it cools down, unless I go just for tuning. I was able to tune my car pretty well with the air fuel controller, picked up .2 by the end of the night.

With a better 60, and better weather I will be close to 13s, but it is no slam dunk. I ran faster at 2700ft in 70 degree weather than I did down here at sea level with the heat and humidity. Felt like the car was falling on its face on the big end.

interesting. i definately felt a power difference in LACR. also, i hear that the roots blower doesnt like altitude changes, so i am wondering if it will be even worse shall i head down there. so basically you can run 13's. obviously your conditions were much less than ideal.
its always good to watch other cars that should do runs similar to yours. it always helps to know if everyone else is running slower but you also should take them lightly since they might be getting higher times in part because of driver skill. your 60 is not bad at all. the best i ever got was always higher than 2.2, and even with adjustments i doubt i broke 2.2. and that was with pilot sport tires!

my friend is getting his mustang tuned tonight, and we will head to the track sometime soon. i will probably just post on the board my results. i hopefully will have an exhaust cutout by then so that i can push the most power and also test to see if the damn thing works!

Altitude hurts roots blowers unless you up the boost by swapping pullies. You could tell the driver in the G35 wasn't very good, but as the night wore on, he got better and better. I don't think he ever broke into the 14s though. There was another G35 Coupe though, on a huge shot of nitrous...he ran 12.2s!!! Didn't get a chance to talk to him though.

While LACR has its deficiencies...there are some tracks that are worse. At Moroso, you can't even dump your stuff in staging, people will take it!!! I had to run in street trim.

As for my 60s, I run crappy Remington tires, but I have cut 2.1 60s on them at LACR. I could tell this track was stickier, but I just couldn't get all the water off my tires at the line. The guys I was with, said some of the time they do the water box better, so you can get completey around it.

My predictions for your TL...at LACR with the Blower.....14.3 and not a 1/100th faster(thats my PB ) Actually I hope you go faster. BTW, I got a Snell M2000 helmet from JCWhitney for $57. Might want to pick one up. With all the power of your TL, you might run a 13 at LACR.

Welcome to south FL where humidity owns. You're gonna have to wait a while for it to cool down. But a 12.2 is freakin crazy.

i doubt a 13 is possible, the blower will be hurt from the altitude and that will make things worse. everyone keeps telling me the roots suffers alot. does the roots have it worse than other blowers? i might head down tonight depending on how much work i get done here.

The roots is the least efficient blower in adiabatic efficiency(heat efficiency), but best in volumetric efficiency. In other words, it heats up the air like a mother!!! I ran a 14.3 at LACR and it was still in the high 60's.

Renegade, I just move hear from Cali. Been in Jupiter Farms for about 2 months now. I work down in West Palm. My car is easy to miss, unless you read my plate. Its still a Cali plate and reads "GS Dave". Original huh? Its dark blue...how many Buicks are there is S. Fl? lol every other friggin q-tip is driving one. lol You ever go to Moroso?

I think I figured out part of my problem(other than weather), I think I can knock 2 tenths or more off that time, even in the warmer weather. I guess I'll plan all my racing for Dec-Feb.

My mom has a 93 Regal but it's the NA one. Nice torque. She only has 60k miles on it. I should throw on a blower.

And that car will run forever, my sister in laws 93 has over 350K miles on it, just finally replaced the tranny at 340K. lol I think they had around 160HP and 180TQ(I don't know on Tq). They had decent pickup for their time, but nothing compared to the newer blown cars with 240/280 stock.
