More Boost
More Boost
Well, I installed the boost regulator and tried it out. I set it to 7.5psi with the exhaust open (hit about 7psi with it closed) - This is a healthy 1.0psi-1.5psi increase. Anyways, 2nd feels awesome, but it starts misfiring in 3rd and 4th. I don't have time to tune it today, but its probably one of the following:
(1) Plug gaps are too large
(2) Gas is bad (91-octane)
(3) Fuel pump is doing bad things? (I see 90psi fuel pressure now... I need to change the spring on the comptech FPR)
(3) Something else bad...?!?
Anyways - I probably won't play around with it for a while as I don't have time.

what gap are the plugs at? how are you monitoring fuel pressure? i know i had a hard time moniroting fuel pressure on one of my turboed cars because we tried putting a cheap gauge right into the fuel line in the engine bay that goes to the rail, its good for awhile but breaks after a little (no leakage, just wrong readings)
i dont know much about the kit, but obviously you have a FPR, but do they have you replace the fuel pump? what about injectors or fuel rail? sorry if i sound stupid, but i do have a lot of experience with turbos, just not your particular setup.
p.s. i would try to get that running right on 91

wow man, that car just keeps getting more and more impressive. Pretty much my favorite thing going on here on Acura-cl.com
Congratulations on getting her to like higher boost levels.
Definitely check spark plug gap, I've run into that issue wayyyyy too many times, IIRC cl's are a PITA to change plugs on, though... either way, best of luck.

if your seeing your fuel pressure to be 90 psi on boost thats not too bad, you may need to drop the gap but not a lot considering your only adding about 1-1.5 psi, maybe you just need to retune for the extra boost. good luck.
5 1/2 to 6 buck a gallon for the 100...

As of today, at the Brentwood 76 station, it was 5.93/gallon.
Canyon Service & Detail (and independent) has the 100-octane for around $5.50/gallon

"Said to be the oldest working gas station in Los Angeles county, Canyon Service & Detail is a surprise, a tiny jewel on Entrada in Santa Monica Canyon, a wholly cool fragment from another, simpler era..."
If you need a couple of gallons, well....

You can mix-up some "rocket fuel" by adding toluene or xylene ... nasty stuff

hmmm. misfire could be a number of things.
Do you have an EGT gauge? This can speak volumes to whats happening inside that motor. With a turbo, i'd say that an EGT gauge would be one of the most important monitoring devices you should have.
No expert, but sounds a little lean to me.

Okay... problem fixed: My stupidity actually
I had typed in '4' for the timing retard instead of '-4'... so it was trying to advance timing and we all
know that the E-manage cannot advance timing!!
In any case I ruined the regulator as well by mounting it in the engine compartment... it doesn't like heat!!
