New to the site. I just recently bought a 2001 Cl type S with Navi. Just wondering how come the moonroof does not open all the way. It goes about 2/3 of the way back. Is that how all of them are? Thanks for the help guys

 

If you follow the roof line, you'll find the design of the car does not allow for the complete opening of the sunroof. Bummer I know. We all learned about it the hard way ... meaning ... we buy the car, love it, and then open the sunroof and go "WTF" it must be defective. It's not. Enjoy your car and welcome to the club.

I've had an '01 CLS and now an '03 CLS 6MT... both are the same where the moonroof doesn't open all the way... that's by design...

 

Welcome to the club I have a 2001 CL Type S as well, I love the car and i'm sure you will as well

 

Better than the CRX (I think?) that has its sunroof ride on the top of the car's roof in order to maximize the opening. Might be OK from the inside out, but looks awful from the outside.

FWIW, I push the padded opening a hair furhter back to maximize my sunroof opening. Let's a little bit more light in through the sunroof glass at the back. Sure it's weak, but so is our sunroof!
