Montclair Acura, NJ problem - need help

Just to let you guys know, I've already posted in First Gen, but I thought maybe you guys would be able to help as well.

I've posted in the past about all the times I brought my car into Montclair Acura, in NJ because my brakes were always squeaking. This past weekend I heard another really loud grinding noise from the driver's side rear of my car. I right away knew it was my rotors being grinded by the worn brake pads. I decided to bring my car into Park Ave Acura, to see what they would find. I just received a call from the service department. Check this out. They told me that both my rear brake pads were completely worn out and also, that my rear rotors need to be resurfaced. My front brake pads have maybe 20% left, so they need to be changed shortly. Both my front tires are worn out on the inside, so I need two new front tires.

They quoted me $260 parts and labor for the rear brakes. $260 parts and labor for the front brakes. I don't even want to know what they want for two tires and labor.

What a ripoff!!!

What I'm going to do first is bitch and moan to Montclair Acura, for not catching any of this earlier, since I've brought my car into them about 3 times the past 6 months for the brake noise.

What does everyone think? Do you guys think they'll actually do something for me, cause if not then I'm gonna do everything myself.

Erik

Get the qoute from PAA in written form. Then get the service slips from your visits to the other Acura place. Hopefully, they marked on those slips that you complained about the brakes. If that is on the service slip then you could call Acura Customer relations and see what they could do......

second, y would u wanna drive your car any more than u have now that u know the extent of the damage this has caused that u will just enhance further, not to mention the countless safety concerns u're raising with yourself and innocent people around u

If you read his next sentence below what you quoted, it reads:

I think "u" just didn't read his post too well, Scoots. :P

My suggestion is don't go to Montclair Service dept. anymore. I bought my CLS there about 2-3 weeks ago. Sales team is great. Service Dept. sucks! I was getting my loJack installed last Sat. at Montclair, so I figured they can look at my car too because the SRS light is on. I called the Weds. before my appointment and spoke to a service person and they said, "yeah, just bring it in and we'll take care of it..." Once I get there, they start giving me bunch of BS and giving me the run around... Basically what happened was I got the lo/jack installed, but service said I needed an appointment for the SRS. I would have to wait another 2 hours before they can take a look at it.
I live in Queens, so I'm just going to bring it to Rallye. I don't want to deal with that service dept again... Hope this helps in your decision. Good customer service goes a long way with me.

I agree that Montclair Acura service dept sucks big ass hairy sweaty donkey balls! I bought my car from them and took it to them a few times to get things done but I was always given the runaround. That's why I bring my car to PAA now.

Guys, this is no different than comparing one Firestone Repair Center to another... etc.

If Montclair did not properly troubleshoot your car's problems or failed to note wear and tear damage which simply let to MORE wear and tear damage then I would absolutely hold them liable. The reason you bring your car to get serviced is because you don't have the time or expertise to tell if your car's brakes are being worn down prematurely, are warped etc. Part of the service they provide includes HAVING this knowledge and the processes to check such items especially since your problem WAS with the brakes to begin with. If you have all the appropriate paperwork of your past service visits you absolutely have a leg to stand on. Just ask them how is it that you can go to another service facility (PAA) and have all this found?

re: Montclair Acura

First of all, thanks for all the input. Second of all, Scooter, I'm not pissed at all at PAA. I understand the pricing with dealers. I'm pissed off at Montclair for always telling me that nothing was wrong. I am definitely going to continue from now on to bring my car to PAA.

Anyway, I just picked up my car this morning and will be changing the brakes when I get home from work. I haven't gotten a chance to take anything apart. How easy or hard is it to change the CL brakes. I've changed brakes on many American cars, but never on an Acura. My guess it'll probably be easier then an American car.

Hey, StonedCL, what was the girls first name you went with, I probably know her.

I don't think he got pissed at PAA. As he clearly said, he wants to bitch out Montclair Acura. Hence why I think you didn't read it right.

Oh look, just like I thought.

Just wanted to get my opinon across on Montclair.......First, i agree that there sales dept. is good, I go in there every once in a while and have good conversations with one of the salesmen (Douglas) although i didnt actualy get my car there. In terms of there service dept., i realy cant say, cause i am good family friends with one of the michanics there, and he alaways does the work on our cars on the side, so i never realy set apointments, i just call him directly. But, if what you say is true, i wouldnt hesitate to bring it to PAA, since they seem to have a better service reputation.

Yeah there are a lot of chicks here in Clifton. This past Saturday, at Chevy's in Clifton, they had their annual Cinco De Mayo (sp.) party. You should have seen them all there. It was like where the HELL have you all been hiding....

Well good news, I changed my rear brakes yesterday, all the grinding and squeaking noises are gone, at least for now.
