Molding

Has anyone replaced the verticle black plastic molding located on the back of the driver's side window. Mine is cracked but I can't seem to remove the metal piece on the window frame that the black pastic molding is attached. There are 3 screws behind the rubber seals on the inside of the door that screw into the metal part. But that doesn't seem to loosen the part. Weird. any help would be appreciated.

Which piece are you talking about? Maybe this will help you get some answers.

It's the left garnish assembley and its holder. It looks like it may be 42-10 and 4 in that diagram. But it's unclear. It's the outside shiny black molding that runs vertically the length of the back of the driver's window. There is another diagram that is clearer from:

It's 7-10 and 3-4 in that diagram.

The holder may be cemented into place as well as being held by screws.. That's why removing the three screws holding it in place under the weather stripping has no effect. Any ideas?
