Mobil 1 oil filter

What model number oil filter from Mobil can I use on my CL-S?

I went to Mobil's website search but it only lists the last generation cl...will the same filter fit the new CL-S?

After reading the link above, and as I'm still learning...

what's the consequences/risks of
buying a non OEM authentic acura filter?
Does anyone know how much the OEM costs?

Seems to me like the Mobile 1, Purolator (Proline) are good safe bets..
and I would be using Mobile 1 Synthetic anyways, keeping it simple would be good.

Besides, don't have to use "special tools"
to remove it..heeh Honda/Acura designed their parts to be used by Honda/Acura tools...
isn't that anticompetitive?

Great link, have always liked the Mobil 1 oil. I wonder about the Mobil 1 filter comment -- that it can burst under high pressure

If anything, that website only further proved that Mobil 1 filter is the way to go.

Of course, the page only had two synthetic filters listed.

oem oil filter costs between $7-10, i recommend using one from acura it is made specifically for the cl unlike a mobil 1. I would make sure that you replace the crush washer every time on your oil drain plug. If this is not replaced it could cause damage to your oil pan. When you do not replace this crush washer it could cause oil leaks that would not be covered under warranty. The same issue is brought up when using aftermarket oil filters. If this causes an oil leak it would not be covered under acura warranty

You can get some good deals on filters/parts from my friend Mike K in Naples Fl. Call 1-800-79-acura and ask to speak to mike in the parts dept. He should be able to hook you up with OEM parts. If he asks about how you heard about him either tell him the hybrid board or tell him that Adam sent you. That is who I bought my brand new 00 ITR engine from. If people want I will email him and get some prices on buying bulk filters.

The "one from Acura" is not really made specifically for the CL. It is the same Honda filter that goes on a lot of the Honda/Acura cars.

The crush disks are available at the dealer. If you ask for a handful they'll usually give them to you, otherwise .25 each. By all means use'm with your Mobil 1 or other filter. I've never seen one that looked worn at oil change time, so if you have to reuse one in a pinch, I wouldn't stress to much about it.
