did they say what engine oil they use? whether or not our engine is aluminum, you'd want to prevent as much friction as possible....plus, based on all the conversatoins here, there's a lot of benefits using superior oil...much more, synthetic. a lot of folks here have used mobil 1 and swear by it. others have used amsoil and other synthetic oil and swear by it as well. some use regular oil and don't have a problem with it. i personally have used mobil 1 from my 91 crx to my 95 civic to my 98 cl to my 2001 cl. i haven't had any problems. i don't know if i would have had any problems using regular oil. but it gives me that piece of mind using synthetic. if price is an issue, you can do it yourself. it's not difficult. the oil filter is very accesible. a box of mobil 1 can go as low as $20 at walmart if on sale. all you need is a pair of ramps that cost $30 at any car shop. you may not even need that since the filter is so easy to get to. i had the dealer do mine since the winter here was pretty bad and i don't have a garage but i usually change my own oil. i would suggest going with synthetic, whether it be mobil 1 or amsoil or other brands of synthetic. again, i do it cuz it gives me piece of mind...plus some numbers done by research proves that synthetic does have it's benefits and advantages. also, i would suggest doing a search on "mobil 1" in this forum. it's been discussed quite a lot.

I go to the dealer and do the oil change there since the Acura filter is provided and drain washer. I would also bring in my own Mobil1 synthetic oil 5W30 from Costco for 22.99 a case. So yes the oil change will cost you around $50 but your getting OEM filter with the best oil and you can do it in 5000 mile intervals possibly more.

Lou, im not sure if the stock filter can handle the 5000 miles for 7500 miles... even though I've been doing it till now. I've just switched to the Fram X2 cause it says its for newer cars and can filter safely till 7000 miles

its says they have no oil for our cars:
There was no data found for the vehicle selected. If you have further questions about which viscosity to use for a specific vehicle, please consult your vehicle owner's manual, or contact a dealer or your vehicle's manufacturer.

Not really aluminum!
I've used Mobil-1 since the "break-in" oil came out, but not because the engine is aluminum.
Because the substantial improvements in cylinder filling in the Type-S led to proportionally higher cylinder pressures, Acura engineers adopted thin-wall, spin-cast cylinder liners, which were found to provide improved knocking limits.
Since in the Type-S, the cylinders are sleeved, the friction surface is not aluminum. The sleeves were found to reduce detonation from the higher compression ratio in the Type-S motor.

I'd go with the Mobil 1 synthetic!
I've also heard really great stories about Amsoil, but haven't tried it myself.
I've been using it for 60,000 miles in my Cougar and have nothing but great things to say about it...
I usually just go to Walmart and buy the oil, and take it to a little local shop for the change.
69.00 for an oil change is just outrageous!
