Mobil 1 0W-30 oil

I know that the 5W-30 is recommended for our cars, but I have seen Mobil 1 offered in a 0W-30 weight.

I live in So Cal, so cold temperature is not an issue. I was wondering if this might give us better fuel economy without sacrificing the protection.

Any thought?

The 0W30 would be OK for the car, but the 0 is in its cold state. Therefore, it would not really help your gas mileage; only that it gets "slung" around the engine easier when the engine/oil is cold/first started.

The oil being 'slung around'...is this a good , bad or indifferent thing?
