Hopefully I'm not losing it, but has anyone experienced a "moaning" noise coming from their cars. I purchased a 2003, 6-speed in February and ever since I've heared a "moaning" sound in my garage. At first I thought it might be my furnace or air conditioning system. But just the other night, when I went to open the trunk, it made the noise. It is just a low, moaning noise that lasts a couple of seconds...but it's fairly noticeable. I probably sound like a total nut-case, but I think the sound is coming from the car. The car is never running when it makes the sound. Any ideas????

 

Try loosening the gas cap while it's doing it. I've had cars that build pressure in the tank especially during hot weather. Does it do it shortly after you shut the car off?

 

yes.....sometimes my car makes the moaning sound after i drop it from being raised by a jack.....it sounds like it is coming from the rear of the car.....gas tank???
