Hey! Yep, that was me!

I noticed your car in the lot when I pulled in. My buddy thought it was mine.

Anyway, the springs are great, the best money I've spent lately.

i got a question on the springs if you don't mind.
i often change my own oil, i don't know if you've tried this or not but can you still get a hydraulic jack under the car to jack it up? i had this problem with a previous car that i dropped and vowed not drop any cars that i own, but after looking at your my mouth is salavating.

I don't think the jack will be a problem. I am considering buying the ramps and they may be problematic. Although, all you have to do is get some shoring. If you can't get the jack under it, just put down a couple of wood blocks in front of each front tire and drive up on them, then jack the car. If using the ramps, it's basically the same thing, put the shoring in front of each tire then the ramp in front of the shoring.

With the Comptechs the car should be high enough. I can still pull up (and over) parking lot curbs with no problems (except for 7-11).

my car looks better!

j/k

I actually think my car is lower than yours MikeN, not sure though...

I measured yesterday, but forgot to write them down, from the ground to the top of the wheelwell. You know what I'm talking about, like we did at the last meet.

I will have to take measurements again, and write them down this time and compare to yours.

I also need to take pics, but I still don't have a camara!!!!

I'm sure yours is lower in the back. I prefer the "raked" look much more. Let me know what your numbers are, I'll remeasure mine tonight.

MikeN -

I remeasured and here are the results of my drop. I don't have the original drop numbers, but anyway...

(Driver)
LF - 26.5"
LR - 26.25"

(Pass)
RF - 26.5"
RR - 26.3"

Let me know how they compare to yours!

Interesting, you actually got an even drop left-to-right drop up front, I thought most people were getting an uneven drop up front.

It is very even in the front, and almost even in the back. I think I may have extra weight in the LR when I measured, not really for sure.

What springs were people getting uneven drops with? I know that the shop I went to is very detailed and very meticulous about their work, so it was done to perfection (or atleast as close as they could get).

Yeh, the Comptechs do give an uneven drop, but only about 1/8" off.

I will post my measurements after lunch. The tape measure is in the car waiting to be used.

Okay, here are my numbers....

Left Front: 26.25
Right Front: 26.25

Left Rear: 26.75
Right Rear: 26.75

Note - I had to measure twice because the first ones were too far off, meaning the ground was not level. So, I found a more level surface to get these numbers. Tire pressure variance can also skew the numbers a bit.

That's just about the difference I expected between you two, .25" up front and .5" out back, maybe a little less up front. The difference between the Comptechs and the Pro-Kit should be the same.

Although I haven't seen Kevin's car with the new H&R springs, I don't think I'd want mine lower in the back unless the fenders were designed that way (e.g. - BMW 330ci, etc). Our cars seem to have "even" fenders.

Yeah, 330s look awesome. I wanted a more level drop too, but I think that with the added weight of the amp and 2 10s I want to get, a passenger or two, and a cooler full of beer in the trunk, the rear wheels will tuck, so I'm going to go with the Comptechs. Even though I wanted the Pro-Kit at first, I'll avoid the headaches since I don't really baby my car as much as you should when it's dropped.

No the car is not lower in the rear, just the distance from the ground to the wheelwell.

It looks very level overall, and I like the look of it.

You will just have to see it at the lunch meet next week and let me know what you think.

Note: I also may have measured on unlevel ground. I didn't have a choice though. I think they are pretty close though.

Aveneger,

I was thinking of getting the same springs. Do you think you would have aproblem going to the dealership for an oil change? Any rubbing? Is the ride quality similar to stock? How is clearance?

Thanks,

Hey, good questions!

My dealership won't give me any problems when I go in for an oil change or any other checkups. I have had my CAI on for about 6 months now, and they all just ask how it runs and what's the power output and how's it sound.

No rubbing whatsoever. Plenty of room.

Compared to stock ride/comfort, I would say these springs are about 10%-12% stiffer. There has been no bouncing whatsoever so far. They feel much more solid and haven't compromised the comfort of the ride at all.

Clearance is good, I can still clear most curbs. [I never pull up that far anyway though]. I am a little more careful going over speedbumps though, but haven't had any problem at all with the clearance.

Hope that helps clear some things up, let me know if I can answer any more questions or clarify more on any of these!

Look for pics after our meet next Wed. It will show the difference between the Comptechs on MikeN's and the H&Rs on mine.

No problems going on the lift. I haven't been to the dealership since I had the springs put on, but I don't anticipate any problems. MikeN has had his Comptech springs on for a while, I am sure he would have mentioned something about any problems at the dealership.

I have a 3.5" drop front and 3.75" rear and I can still fit a hydraulic jack under the car. I've also taken my car in for oil changes and haven't had a problem either. If I can get by I don't see the 1 or 2" drop from H&R or Comptech springs being a problem at all.
