You mean the exhaust resonator? I used to have a straight pipe from cat-back going into oem mufflers. Nice deep sound imo... have since deleted the intake resonator & installed Tanabe cat-back exhaust...still kept the straight pipe tho...

I removed my mid-muffler a couple weeks ago, sounds real good to me. Its not too deep and gives it more bark when you step on the gas.

I'll try and take a video of what it sounds like before and after I install my CT headers

mid muffler, resonator, was sure what to call it. does it really make a difference? it so tiny. i took the intake resonator out and that made a big difference.

So do you regret doing it? Or is it worth it.

A few members have done it. I did when I had my CL. Gave mine a custom cat back.

Originally I had straight pipes in the back which was SUPER loud.

I through on dual tipped mufflers to tone it down. The exhaust sounded really good after that.

depends on what you're going for. If you don't mind a hyper rattle sound btwn 2-3k rpms then its for you. If you would mind that, it isnt for you... all personal pref, I suppose.

Me personally, I knew what I was getting myself into when I deleted the mid-muff and then the cat, so yes it was worth it for me

its a deeper tone... if u have ur backseat removed, then its really looud inside, but outside it isnt as loud... yes it gets raspy when the engine is still cold and u step on it, but once its warm, it keeps a steady deep tone until u just gun it.

So when you say 2 to 3 k rpm, is that also include highway crusing, or just WOT?

on mine, its perfectly "stock" sounding cruising on the highway 55+mph

the only noise it makes on highway driving is if you pass aggressively or start up from a tollbooth (or just stop and go during rushhour).

You should definetly remove the mid-muffler though!! A shop can do it for $20 unless you can do it yourself. I guarentee you'll be 100% satisfied with the removal!

poeple have done it before. on both the 2g CL and TL. With the TL guys, it almost always makes it better. The CL is a different story. Its a mixed reaction with some saying it sounds better and others saying it makes it raspy. Remove at your own risk, i perfer to keep it safe and save my money.

no-no not highway, its only first, 2nd, and 3rd gears. Sorry, I should have put that in, thats a good point. Its 1-2-3 gears regardless of WOT or light throttle.

I have done it. From a conservative stand point, the sound is the difference between the OMG look I have on my when I hear....then see...the stereo typical rice rocket, one of those cars that gives imports a bad rap with primmer paint, a ten foot tall spoiler and the dragging chrome fart can that looks like it was welded on by a crack head. If you are into that sound, it is for you. Bottom line is that it adds a shit load or rasp between 2-3K and is pretty embarrassing if your car is not really a race car. If you do a complete header back to stock muffler, it sounds great with a 2.5-3"x18-30" Magnaflow resonator. Use only the 4" Outside diameter or it will hang and hit speed bumps. I have a 2.5" RT cat and 2.5" piping through an 18x4" (2.5" Through pipe) with a Y-pipe and 2.25" to the stock mufflers. Sounds like stock but with slightly more bass and certainly much better flow. No rasp and it looks amazing from behind. To each his own though. If that is what you like I respect it. However, if you are trying to add power the only way to do that with exhaust mods is through larger piping. So the res delete mod is kind of silly unless you love tons of rasp. 2cents

idk, i've been going back and forth deciding whether or not i should delete the mid muff or whether or not it would sound good with the super draggers. i might end up going for it this summer.

I had 2.5 pipe and Magnaflows installed and it was way too loud and made the seat belt retainer vibrate on my hip like my phone was ringing on vibrate, really annoying.

Installed a Magnaflow resonator and all is well in my world.

got the Magnaflow resonator on. not more drone and rasp. so mid muffler delete only sounds good with the Magnaflow resonator. used all the stock tubing. magnaflow muffler #14414.

I'll help everyone out with the trouble of deciding to remove their mid-muffler or not. Give me until tomorrow and I will post what a CL-S w/ stock headers and exhaust w/ mid-muffler delete option sounds like inside the cabin. I will also ask my friend if we can record his TL-P w/ stock headers and HKS Superdraggers axle-back w/ deleted mid-muffler too

Awww I'm real sorry guys! I was gonna take the ol' video recording device out today and record the deleted mid-muffler....BUT....I jumped ship to modified exhaust setup

I received my GReddy Evo2 cat-back yesterday in the UPS drop-off and decided, since it was a beautiful day in Chicago, to get it installed.

Now I just gotta wait for it to be a lot warmer and do my headers and Icebox upgrade! lol

I guess I'll be going for Magnaflow resonator.

Does the check engine light come one after installing it? if yes, then whats the fix for it?

If you have headers and replace the mid muffler with a larger resonator it will sound good imo

I thought I got a Magnaflow but I checked my order details and it wasn't.

Vibrant 1140 2.25" Ultra Quiet Resonator

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E3VHW8

It did a great job and was cheap.

im assuming that you mean install magnaflow mufflers over mid muff delete then yes. But i would replace the mid muff with aftermarket resonator over replacing the mufflers.
stock mufflers are already pretty good. and if you just wanna add sound then im sure a resonator is cheaper then 2 mufflers.
